This podcast is an interview with Dr Ethan Russo - one of the primary scientists at GW Pharmaceuticals during the development of Sativex. He's now freelance and able to talk more openly about his research.
This information is GOLDEN to anyone interested in cannabinoid science.

"Taming THC: Potential Cannabis Synergy and Phytocannabinoid-Terpenoid Entourage Effects is one of the most important research papers in cannabis medicine. For many, it was the first time they had read an explanation of the interaction between THC, CBD, terpenoids and minor cannabinoids explained in terms that a layperson could understand.

On today's episode of Shaping Fire, Dr. Ethan Russo sits down with podcast host Shango Los to discuss the paper in detail and further explain and illustrate his research. This is a must-hear show for anyone serious about cannabis medicine.
You can read the paper in full here

From http://www.medicinalgenomics.com/wp-con ... -Russo.pdf:

Government-approved cannabis supplied to patients in national programmes in the Netherlands and Canada is gamma-irradiated to sterilize coliform bacteria, but the safety of this technique for a smoked and inhaled product has never been specifically tested.

Who knew?

@FOD: Radiological sterilization is quite common practice and is used for many products, herbs, fruit, vegetables etc.

The practice is a bit controversial and I personally don't know for sure if ionizing radiation can affect the properties of e.g. cannabinoids, terps and other fatty acids, so especially for edibles and similar uses I would be quite skeptical towards its application...
