World Cup winner Alan Ball has died of a heart attack at the age of 61.
Ball was the youngest member of the England side that won the World Cup in 1966 and went on to win 72 caps.
The industrious midfielder started his career at Blackpool and went on to play for Everton, Arsenal and Southampton before a spell in the United States.
Ball, who collapsed outside his home after tackling a bonfire, also managed seven clubs, including Portsmouth, Southampton and Manchester City.
Only the second player from the '66 team to pass away, Bobby Moore of course being the first back in 1993.
A sad loss to English football.

Only taint on his illustrious career was that he played for Everton.
Oh well.
I resent that comment being a Toffeeman myself. You must be a kopite........? I was at the game yesterday against the Scum, Mr Alan Ball got a fantastic ovation from the Gwladys Street. And im off next week to see us play they Pompey Poofs. Still its better than supporting Leeds i guess.............
