Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. Oudezijds Voorburgwal. Mozes en Aaronstraat. Turfdraagsterpad. Just to name a few. The first time I went to Amsterdam was prior to cell phones and GPS. I was in the passenger seat and given a large fold out map, and told to find our hotel. Adding to the confusion was the fact that I did not know that the street sign was on the corner of buildings, and not a post. It took us 3.5 hours to find the hotel, which ended up being about 4 blocks from where we entered the city.

But things have gotten better. More to follow.

I can really relate to this post. Coming from a grid city, the half wheel layout of Amsterdam threw me for a loop too. It also helps to learn some Dutch and realize that thewordsinthestreetnamesallruntogether. Oude zijds Voor burg wal
