A true giant of northern English music died today.
Marc Riley, who was his guitarist for the early years, playing a tribute to him right now on BBC 6 Music.
What a grumpy bastard genius - our very own Captain Beefheart.
The Fall were one hell of a band - must have seen them 20 times. Sometimes they played for hours, sometimes for 10 minutes before storming off.

Just about my favourite band of all time. My old band supported the fall once. I'd just got back from a Dam trip the day he died. I'm now one of 3 mes's in a fall covers band. Yikes! RIP Hip Priest

Currently listening to Bend Sinister, the album tour was one of their best.
MESmith is sadly missed.

Though I wasn't a big fan of him but a few days ago someone shared his song Totally Wired and really like lyrics and music. Yeah! Mark E Smith was also a unique vocalist.
