Is Amsterdam safe for a recovering drug addict?

So one of my friends who's a former drug addict(mainly heroin and coke) has decided he wants to come to Amsterdam with me. Hes been sober from the hard stuff for awhile now. He always turned down my offers to come with me because he was afraid he would relapse.I have never taken hard drugs so basically I don't know what it would be like for him in Amsterdam. I dont want him to go if it will be setting himself up for a relapse. I know you can get hard drugs in Amsterdam but I don't think they are any easier to get there than they are here in Seattle. We're both just big cannibus fans..smoke together alot. What do you guys think. Anyone been in a similar situation?

When you are walking around the Red Light district people have it all for sale. I think it would be hard for him there.

yea thats the only problem i see. I said we could stay out of the redlight district at night or alltogether. if i needed to get some weed from a shop in the rld i would go myself.

In Amsterdam, I wouldn't ever leave him/her alone.
If they are going to relapse it wouldn't be on my watch.

Shop at shops in the Jordaan, Centrum, or Zuid.
Amnesia in the Jordaan has an RLD right next door.
De Kuil ( 420 Cafe ) in Centrum is popular and I've never seen hard drugs.
Katsu in the south would be a safe one.

Stay far away from clubs, pharmaceuticals could be a problem.

Better yet, take him/her to Haarlem.
Same fun, less temptation.

i would mainly take him into the shops like grey area..amnesia,de kuil,dam kring,abraxas etc..and some of the ones like barneys. smoke in our hotel and in the park. Already planned on taking him on a day trip to haarlem or maybe den haag or something.

To make matters a bit more complictaed this "friend" is actually my brother. I def wouldn't let him out of my site.

Took mates with herion and coke problems to dam a few times with no problems and besides if they do buy any hard drugs are they actually gonna do anything lol

I used to to have a heroin dependency for years,i am not doing it now.Strictly speaking sober means nothing not weed no alcohol,no nothing,you brother is at risk allready just by smoking weed,so Amsterdam trip could provoke relapse,so it,s up tohim ,how strong he is in his desire not to use again and it,s up to you to be always on his side,never let him do it! Harlem more peaceful might be a good idea,avoid duty neighborhoods.

Theres more chance of the ladies getting there hooks into his wallet than him taking anything else,Ps most the stuff the street dealers sell is FAKE anyways,He would get the runs for the rest of his trip instead of getting a high
