Flights booked for end of June......off to Zuid Holland for a week. I would greatly appreciate all recommendations for Coffeeshops and things to do.

My list so far is pretty pathetic

Escher Musuem

Leiden:

Hi RoMoney,

The Hague : Cremers (not to far from the train station, with a bar next door that you can smoke your goods in and have a few beers etc) The Freak Brothers, The Canna Club, Fly 11, Magic and London are a few that are worth a hit up, its been a good few years since I have frequented these though. If I remember the shops are a little harder to find as they do not have huge signs etc and they were a lot smaller and more fly n buy places. I remember standing outside one place and looking at my map, thinking bloody place doesn't exist, only to realize I was actually stood by the door lol.

Leiden : Coffee and Dreams, Paradise, Double AA, Erste Kamer and Goa are also a few that might be worth a look.

Get yourself a good map of both area's, as I found it hard to find some shops on my 1st couple visits to these places. Good luck and happy hunting on them :D

Maybe catch you in town one time :)

From trawling the directory and forums the below seem to be decent bets as well in Den Haag aside from Dizzyduck and those mentioned by Ghost.

Happy Smile
DeMazzelaar
Greenhouse

It also seems Den Haag has quite the park game with lots of parks and woods. Haagse Bos, Clingendael, Scheveningen Bosjes and Westduinpark in particular all look expansive. There's also the beach at Scheveningen which looks like it's worth the jaunt. Hopefully the weather is good and I can enjoy the parks and beach.

On a side note......fcuk me, the Grand Amrath hotel in Scheveningen looks proper lush! I will stay there some day. It's way cheaper than the Conservatorium in Amsterdam which is my other bucket list hotel in the Netherlands.

As far as Leiden goes, only BeBop and the same ownership pair of Double AA and Eerste Kamer had reasonable stuff, but none of them compare to HS. Leidseplein is a lovely ambience for the tiny size, but gear too variable in quality. Relaxed, Goa, Paradise all had guff menus, standard small toon CS style, Groene Woude is the same.
I ended up either going to Haarlem or off-piste in Mokum for best options.
Never really took to Den Haag, too full of lawyers, and shmoking up in Centrum now prohibited by the bourgeois burghers, so balls to the place, apart from Scheveningen.
I reckon Utrecht is much more vibing.

The rooms look pretty amazing, I've actually walked by that place a good few times, but never knew they had lush rooms.
