Favourite bar
When you say drugs, you should clarify - Howard refused to deal in hard drugs, green and black was all he ever moved.
A very clever chappy he was too... everybody has their time though, in that particular game. He's also a very funny chappy too, I saw him do a talk a few years back and he's quite witty.
Mr. Nice is a fantastic read Catt - you should really check it out, as is The Howard Marks Book of Dope Stories.

Marks is the celebrity smuggler. Before the time of quality homegrown and rubbish "soapbar" hash, he imported real hashish. He's British or, more precisely, Welsh but was locked up in America. He wrote a hilarious autobiography called "Mr. Nice" and now does lecture tours. http://www.howardmarks.name/

I must read that 'Mr Nice' someday.....
As for favourite bar, 100% is Excalibur! Great music, good location and view, €4 a pint of cold Heneiken (last time I was there). Can get crowded on weekends and sometimes had the Dutch Hell's Angels hanging round, but I still love spending time there every trip.

~ Is that a grinder in your pocket? ~
Marks wasn't street level though, and if anyone's going to someone for their supplies that might sell you lemsip then god help you, find a new dealer, there's no shortage of folk who wouldn't sell you shite because if you want to keep customers you can't sell shit.iain1977 wrote:thats a thing of the past anyway , most street level dealers these days would sell you lemsip if there was a profit in itWhen you say drugs, you should clarify - Howard refused to deal in hard drugs, green and black was all he ever moved.

Cafe Menschen is one of my favorites right near the blue bridge. They have only Dommelisch on tap but other belgians and spirits to offer as well. The pints are cheaper here than most places at around 3,50. The trick is you gotta go when the joint is open. I suggest Tuesday nights. The cave on Prinsengracht is great if you are into Metal and other Hard Rock. Both bars allow smoking. Finally, if you just feel like heineken in the bottle and don't want to go to the grocery store, go to the sensi seed museum. Nice folks working there and plenty of heineken in the bottle.

Heineken -vs- Grolsch
My favorite bar was the little place directly across the street from the Heineken Experience. Anybody know the name?
I noticed that most of the places I stoped in served Grolsch instead of Heineken.
Every time I've had Grolsch in the states It's been disgusting skunked beer, but it was the most common beer I found in pubs in Amsterdam and was actually pertty good over there.
