Silver Pearl not on the menu at the moment ...So we got Choculope . was a good substitute ...They were playing a sorta dischordant hiphop set this evening. Sound system was well tuned . Enjoyed our visit ....Staff of two Dutch women were pleasent ...We had the place to ourselves when we got there , but it was filling up ...too cold to sit outside .

Homrgrown Fantaseeds: The budtender asked for an ID, which I was more than happy to oblige because this is Dutch law and must be followed in order for all of us to enjoy the freedoms Holland has to offer. After presenting an ID (and also showing him my receding hairline which gave him a good laugh) he opened the folder to present the menu. At 8 Euros a gram I chose the Power Plant, a strain which I have loved since the late 90’s. While there is no way of knowing if this was a descendant of the original strain from Dutch Passion (and one certainly would never be so rude as to ask), the bud itself showed the numerous orange hairs, false seed pod formation and spacing consistent with this strain. Trichromes were all intact and covered a decent portion of the bud. A truly relaxing and unique place. This shop is fairly small and rightly so, as it is only for those who appreciate a quiet, relaxing smoke with the local Amsterdammers and enjoy the local artwork on display. For you hordes of hooting and hollering drunken rabble-rousers in groups of 7 go elsewhere and leave this wonderful shop in peace.

Just don't count on some part-time (don't they limit the # of hours that non-Dutch can work?), minimum wage bud-tender to know about the lineage... they may or may not... or they might give you some BS...

If you really want to know about strains sold at HF, check out the seed shop web site:

I went there once at the end of May and the Chocolope was very good I got a pretty nice nugget and started my trip off nicely. They didn't have any just regular Cheese on the menu don't know if I missed something here. Although they did have some cross of it that my buddy got which wasn't very impressive especially in comparison to the Cheese I've seen in plenty of other places.

Here is the Chocolope

Nope, there is no limit on the hours non-dutch can work, definitely not from within the EU. Having worked there people (Mainly English and Polish) could rack up to 50 hours+ a week sometimes

AdamMan is right! they are tons of non dutch people earning a living out of the coffeeshop scene,Ive personaly noticed a marked increase in the eastern european community (poles/hungarians) during the last few years! it used to be just americans/brits & some french/german/spanish & italians at one time,For me amsterdam is fast becoming the next london or new york with the number on non nationals living & working there! lol your always guaranteed to hear a scoucer or a scottish guy during your 1st few hours in amsterdam .

Popped in this weekend looking for Silver Pearl, been an outstanding smoke on my last few trips. Was dissapointed though that it wasnt on the menu, browsed over it for a few minutes and didnt fancy anything at all so left. Maybe its just me being fussy :?

Grabbed a gram of the Power Plant, decent smoke. The menu looks like it changed was looking for a couple of other strains and didn't see them.

Visited HGF a couple of times at the end of July. Good stop as usual. Nice weather so we got to sit outside which is always nice. In fact on one stop everybody was sitting outside budtender included when we arrived and the shop lay empty.

Bought a gram of Amazing Haze a couple of times this trip at €10/g. Thought it was a nice smoke, not too intense but dreamy and nice smooth flavours. Good value and quality for my money.

Also picked up two grams of one of their outdoors for €5/g. They had two on offer Powerplant and a dutch named one, blue something or other in dutch, can't remember, i went for the dutch name after inspecting both. Anyway didn't think it was up to much if i'm honest, flavour was not too good, stone was ok though. In retrospect I should have given the powerplant a go, it was only €4/g I think.

Also tried their Cheese for €12.50/g courtesy of my friend, which was the usual but I'm over cheese at the moment tbh, I'll return eventually I imagine.

Picked up a Vanilla Space cake each one evening. It got too late though that night so we thought we'd save them for the morning. Had them after breakfast, semi-sleep fuzzing dreams ensued lying in bunks at zeeburg on a sunny morning. Another night we had their cakes while smoking outside and it certainly precipitated the stumble to the trams.

Tried €10 worth of their cup entries for the hell of it.

Cheese was nice but Chocolope was tastier and a good high.

Nice place to sit and watch street life for a bit.
