Please excuse another inane question...
I'm determined to pay respects to my grandfather and his two brothers that died during WW1, at their respective memorials in Northern France, so;
I'm intending to take the train from AMS on a Friday morning to Lille in France (via Brussels), returning to AMS the following afternoon.
I'm pretty sure I can squeeze in the essentials during an overnighter once I'm in a hire car at Lille.
I know the trains have suitable connections etc...
Does anyone see a drama with me being able to buy this return fare from AMS central 2 days beforehand? Can a multi carrier journey (eg. thalys & eurostar) be easily ticketed from AMS central on such short notice?
Thank you.

I don't think that would be a problem. I like to have a time table when I buy the tickets so I know what to expect. I've had good luck with DB's even though they are only Germany. They cover most of Europe.
