Virus
Since I first mentioned this in the 4/20 thread last month, the disease and the wave of panic that precedes it have continued their relentless progress around the globe.
It is humbling for us as a species to be so much at the mercy of nature. It seems to me that we can only hope that the virus fades away or evolves into something less harmful. The opposite is possible. It's also possible that it will become endemic and in permanent circulation like the common cold and flu.
Many people will see this as the work of their respective gods. Even those who don't consider themselves to be religious may note the poetry of Mother Earth restoring balance. Devine intervention or not, the virus might reduce CO2 emissions far more than any conference. It could also rebalance the aging population in many countries. As a 60-year-old bloke, I'm not enthusiastic about this!
Having said that we're at the mercy of nature, we can at least try to overcome human nature and our inclination to over-react and behave irrationally in panic. The indirect consequences could be far more damaging than the virus itself.
Back on topic for us, I gather Spannabis is still on at the moment. I hope that this doesn't change before its start on the auspicious Friday 13th.
Igraine and I are still very much planning to be in Amsterdam in April but watching the looming threat. By mid April it seems likely that there will be thousands of known cases in many countries. Even if that is actually an indication that such actions are futile, travel restrictions or even closed borders could be the result.
Maybe we should start a rumour that cannabis is the miracle cure and encourage large scale cultivation and consumption to defeat the epidemic.

Re: Virus
considering the lastest opinion from the authorities regarding policing during a potential epidemic (in the uk at least) where they will be concentrating on public order rather than crime, we may find that weit culture takes a new direction .... wether that is for better or worse remains to be seen .... it is up to us to make sure that there is not left turn unstoned
I'm in shocks and stares

Funny they close all these events and shows. France did the same but I notice they haven’t closed the subway/metro/underground, which lets be honest is much worse for virus transmission than a concert would be

It's official - a protective layer of cannabinoids inside the lungs is the best prophylactic. Tell the world!CopenhagenCouple wrote: ↑Wed 4th Mar 2020 04:19 pm Nice little bit Lems, there's deffo some valid points in there... You made a long typo though, fixed it for ya below, so no worries!

Trump says he doesn't believe the official death rate. He may have a point. Few people in US have been tested, partly due to a lack of test kits and partly because people without health insurance can't afford the test, let alone treatment. If they only test dead people then the apparent death rate would be 100%.
Meanwhile here in the UK, last year the populist papers, parties and advisers were saying we should ignore the experts saying that jumping off a cliff might be dangerous. Now our PM Johnson, who speaks Eton, a language only distantly related to English, says flubberlubber phwar experts blurbl wash flbber hands of hurumph issue.
Seriously, though, situations like this can bring out the best and worst in people. We can work together to get through it or look for people to blame and turn against each other.

Yesterday in US media vice president M. Pence said in front of the cameras "...we don't have enough tests!" while, somewhere else, Trump said (that of course there will be many new tests available soon and ) "...the test is beautiful!" Beautiful!? Wtf is he after...!? Let's laugh or cry...Lemming wrote: ↑Fri 6th Mar 2020 07:11 pm Trump says he doesn't believe the official death rate. He may have a point. But, of course, think positive & enjoy your day!

And sadly we're probably on course to endure another four years of this moronic prick at worst, at an unlikely "best" a half-assed turd sandwich status-quo moderate, who suffers from oncoming senility and excessive "handsy-ness", what a time to be alive folks...
Re: Virus
...he'll sadly win especially if B. Sanders will become Democrats candidate.
Not as Sanders' politics are absolutely reasonable. But because the American people don't understand about the need for a massive change to ecological orientated politics which could potentially go along with cuts in economical growth and people feared loss in their personal wealth and individua welfare.
When great president Jimmy Carter announced exactly this need for a change to his "fellow citizens" ("A Crisis of Confidence" speech 1979), 2 years later they deselcted him and voted for republican Ronald Reagan. Reagan then immediatly put down financial interest rates to allow radical economical growth. Like Trump is just doing/intends. And Reagan also immediately took down the sun power collector panels from the roof of the White House that Carter placed there as a symbol and example to his people for a change to ecological politics...
And Trumps gonna win if he*ll succeed again with his manipulative social media campaign... (btw, first tested by Nigel Farrage in Brexit election campaign)

Money came/comes from a quite unknown billionaire called Robert Mercer, campaign set up by Steve Bannon.
And with the help from the Russian trolls and email hacking etc. ...

Re: Virus
I'll tell you how things are going here in New Wuhan Italy. Only yesterday more than a thousand infections and 137 deaths! Since yesterday, all unnecessary movements are prohibited, the government appeals to our civic sense ... help! You have to respect a meter of distance in every commercial activity ... even with drug dealers! In countries, traffic has decreased by 80%, people on foot are avoided and very few. Today, working in the field of rehabilitation, I decided to close my business and the reason is respect for everyone's health. How is it going in Europe? Unfortunately for us Spannabis has jumped ... fingers crossed for 420!
