Thursday 20th April 2023 - 4/20 Day
It's 4/20 day! Igraine and I emerge from the hotel to find the streets damp but it's drying now. We decide to take the easy option of breakfast at Panorama. I leave Igraine there for a moment and dash around the corner to snap a quick picture of the new Tyson coffeeshop.

Tyson 2.0
After breakfast, the schedule has us heading down south to DNA and De Kade before returning for 4:20 at 420. It's about 11am now and we reckon we should be able to eat and get to the tram stop by 12 so we send out messages to the rest of the gang that this is our plan if anyone would like to join us.
As we arrive at the Dam stop on Damrak, we receive a message from Ghost to say he and Mike are on the tram that just departed. We chase behind them on the next number 24 to Olympiaplein on Stadionweg. From there we walk around Van Tuyll van Serooskerkenplein to snap some passing pictures of DNA.

DNA
Continuing on to De Kade, we find Mike, Ghost and Docgonzo42 inside.

De Kade
I've never been here before but, I have to say, it's very stylish. We get some
Ice Cream Cake, which Igraine notes is quite indica-heavy and stony. She also notes that the coffee is the best.
For my part, I spot a shiny Volcano. This is soon fired up and, after switching a faulty part with another the staff find for me, it becomes part of a great little session along with the Mighty and several joints.
HullDJ and FBN are continuing their tour with us. I hope they find this coffeeshop as gezellig as I do.
I originally considered catching a bus to have a quick look at
The Border while we're here but I'm far too comfortable to be bothered to move. Instead we settle in for a couple of hours until it's time to get back into the centre for 4:20.
By about 3 o'clock we're in 420 Café, ready to commandeer the big table at the back for the celebratory session later this afternoon.

420 Café
We've soon monopolised the traditional table. ACD is being represented by Bedge, Docgonzo42, Gapie, Ghost, Gman, Igraine, Lemming, Mike, Occasional Bowl, Tokeing Tom, Trad and Worsall this year. A couple of guys with a nice bong squeeze into a spare corner for a while.
All the kit is out and serious consumption is in progress. As 4:20 approaches, Docgonzo42 offers some passive smoke to FBN and HullDJ.
4:20 brings a big cheer and the traditional mega joint. Smoke rises.
Soon after the celebration we have to prepare to move because we have an appointment at The Stud at 5 o'clock. It's a short walk from 420 to the Dam stop on Damrak where we all pile on to a Number 14 tram.
That takes us to the Molukkenstraat stop on Insulindeweg. The sun has burst out now as we walk along Molukkenstraat. Then we see MJ waving at us. Some of us met MJ (Mjhowy on these forums) on Monday in Green Place Haarlemmerstraat. Now he welcomes us to The Stud.

The Stud
After posing for this group picture outside, MJ escorts us into the back room where he distributes samples for us to try and generally entertains us. Tokeing Tom says
Blood Runtz and
Lost Coast Ghost are top class.
I'm very happy to find a working Volcano in this room and I slide into a seat next to Tokeing Tom so I can load it up.

The session goes on for about three hours and then we gather for another picture on our way out.
Another tram takes us back to Dam from where some of us are drawn to a chip shop by the Old Church. From there Gapie, Worsall, Bedge, OB, Igraine and me pile into
The Tribe.
After about an hour we get a message from Tokeing Tom saying the rest of the crew are in Betty's (aka
Bar 55), just down the road so we join them there.
I need a restock so I shoot round to
Gelderse and return with a few baggies.
Back in 55 the party is revving up. Beer is flowing, weed is smoking, music is playing.

FiftyFive
As the evening progresses, the speakers get gradually louder. Conversation gets harder and harder so we just smile and pass joints around. After a couple of hours, the volume seems to jump to a whole new level. I'm thinking Hawkwind In case of sonic attack ...
I must be getting old because eventually we're blown out of the door by the pressure of turbo nutter hifi. The sonic wave carries us across the road to HSB where we stop for a short while.
We finish the evening at the Bottle/cake shop/420 Café triangle for a last bit of indulgence before staggering back to our hotel.
I think we can consider 4/20 to have been properly celebrated! Last full day tomorrow ...
