Annoyingly only American citizens can choose who the big banana will be, and tragically the majority of them can't be fucked to get off their arse and cast an informed vote.
Why would we let any other country vote for who we have as president first of all..Alot of people do get off their 'arse' to vote..but one problem is the vote can be bought by big business and their money..Bush's elections have been under scrutiny for years..Funny thing is I didnt see you complaining before Bush took office..Many presidents before this fuck wit took over did alot of great things throughout the World.
No offence to any Americans present, but that state of affairs should be a one of great shame to you. Although it's probably only the one's that DO cast a vote that would understand why.
I do personally take offense cause there are many of us that have tried to get things right to no avail..There is too much bloody lobby money floating around..I guess the old saying everybody has a price could ring no truer.
Seems to me WE really do get the government that YOU deserve.
I dont think you understand what it is like to live here and have to know that this is the man running our country..I dont understand why you would say we deserve this..Do you know us as a country and what we want..I dont think so..So a comment like that can stay under your hat..We dont like the cheeky bastard and it will all be over soon..
For almost 100 years, the American president has, for all intents and purposes, been the Big Banana of Planet Earth.
And when you are one of if not the most powerful country in the World you have a big say in what happens..When a country needs aid..be it medicine, money, food or whatever..I dont see them running to Australia for money I dont see Australia giving billions in aid to countrys but what I do see is Americans paying money for another countries inept ability to maintain its own people..So I guess if you get used to people asking for things you can develope the'BIG BROTHER'syndrome..We dont ask anything of another country that we wouldnt ask of ourselves..Take care of your people and keep them as safe, healthy and tyrant free as possible..I said I was done with this thread but then ya pull me right back in..This is in no way meant to disrespect any Country in the World but to voice the feeling of those you dont know..We all dont wear cowboy hats and carry guns here. most of us are civilized enough to make right choice and decisions.

Australia may indeed contribute some what but if that is the case why dont we hear about it..I dont need to make this a pissing match but when you generalize a nations people with out knowing them it is a misrepresentation of who most of us are..I dont like war it is costing my people unneeded pain and hardship..We were miss led by a man [some]people entrusted to run our nation..I can appreciate some of the hatred as I feel it as well..But as soon as Bush is gone I think you will find Americans are good at learning from their mistakes.
I'm very powerful like that.
LOL..I dont need much goating on this issue to re-introduce myself to it..Now lets smoke one and be civil

I believe that by electing our president, in a sense we elect a CEO of a corporation. The way our system is set up, the voters don't even get to pick the candidates for presidency unless they have political affiliation. Of course the electoral college is severly outdated.
I also think if more of my fellow countrymen/women travelled they might think more about the world than their little bubble.
Both Chopitup and TH make good points in their arguments in my opinion.
Peace.

I do believe that would be a great thing to have happen..We have to get the gun toting sect of America..Which usually votes Republican to get out and see what truely is going on.
electoral college is severly outdated.
I dont think it is necessarily outdated but needs to be updated to the way America is now.The problem here in America is we have been helping out alot of countries for so long that we lost track of who we are and what this country was founded and stood for..

I believe that its the plan of those who really control america...to keep us off kilter so we cant pay attention to them...its like a dirvesion

You have to lead by example though, which isn't happening because you guys are a couple of laws away from being in a tyranny. Whatever spark it took to create your country is being snubbed out by those running it now. As for Bush going, who cares, because whatever money put him where he is will put the next guy there too. They're only the PR guy for some companies/families anyway. I try not to believe conspiracy theories because if they're true we're all fukt already. But when there's so much smoke, there's gotta be a fire somewhere....and even if say 25% is true, that's still some scary shit. Democracy is getting over run by profit making and the ordinary everyday American people are losing the power the constitution gave them as it gets more and more ...hmmm ammended?. Being the biggest kid on the block means you guys lead the way, but they're turning your country into a buck making hammer and the rest of the world is starting to wunder when they'll become a nail. Unfortunately, it sounds anti American....as if it's you that's getting the blame, which isn't really the case. Everybody lives the same, we all live from day to day trying our best to keep everything running smoothly, money in the pocket and food on the table. We do what we can when we can for other people and hope that the dudes in charge of everything have our best interests at heart. The thing is...Do they?. Most governments suck, but yours suck more than most, regretably being the big boys also means the everyday American will take a lot of flak for that because people think you put them there. Personally, I don't think you guys have had a part in the decision since JFK and 'they' killed him.

actually if we went by the popular vote, bush would NOT be in office today. The electorial vote is how they do it and like someone just said its so fucking outdated its pathetic. we need to start going by who the people vote in, period. and DC your right when you said we havent had a good election since JKF.

I understand what you are saying D.C and alot of it rings true..but one flaw you have in your thinking is that if we give up trying to fix it what will we then become.
you guys are a couple of laws away from being in a tyranny.
I think you are getting just a bit of kilter here we are far from being tyrannical in any capacity..Some things we do are questionable I would agree..But we also do alot of good things that seem to go unmentioned.
As for Bush going, who cares, because whatever money put him where he is will put the next guy there too.
I do believe these practices have been used for far to long and need to be stopped.I used to understand what a President meant but now it just seems to be used as a status symbol..We will not be able to fix certain things that have happened but we can fix the future..One thing is if we are so hated by alot of countries then why do they still pander to us for money and aid..Why not run to France,England or even Spain..Whether alot of people want to admit it or not we are more helpful than a corrupter. We need help from our own people to fix this issue..One thing I always felt strongly about is voting should be mandatory. We also need more younger people in our country to understand what is going on and be pro-active in fixing it.I dont want to disrespect you in any way D.C.but its easier to say whats wrong from the outside then actually understanding what some of us are trying to do from the inside.

Countries in need if aid will run to anybody that's willing to help, don't think they sidestep anybody to get somebody else if there's money going spare. If they go to America first it's probably more to do with the world strength you've got and the bank roll to go with it, more than anything else. But I think you've missed my point, I wasn't saying you are tyrinnical....I was saying yer not too far from living in a tyranny yerself. It's not that I think trying to fix wont help, I think it's too late to fix it without something short of a public revolution. However, due to 'terrorist' threat those types of ideas will land you in Guantanamo having all your constitutional rights obliterated. Wasn't that the type of thinking that lead to the creation of those rights in the first place, or is independence day just an excuse to get a day off?.

Hi guys...your forgetting Jimmy Carter
I'm proud to say That was my first Presidential Vote...and you gotta believe that was one of the last truly elect presidents...I mean a Peanut Farmer...No a Human Being...just trying to do the right thing
I have voted in every singl election that my district has...why because I pay for it....and also that civic duty crap
The last election was a total farce...the votes promised by the diebold
executive...were delevered...uncontested...
I can not begein to tell you how many people I saw in line with Kerry
stickers...I saw several hundred on one pre voting day
so we allowed them to talk us into techonology that allows them to steal the election.....
They have destroyed our civil rights...in the name of protection
they have stacked the deck in the supreme court...
they stole so much money...world com...enron...and destroyed the evedience...that many seniors cant retire...or worse...some had their retirement money stolen
My hope is I dont live to see the day...that's portraied in movies...
like Robocop...Running man...
I know its comming....I see the smoke thru the trees....as I climb the stairway to .........
