Bringing a vape pen is a no no?!?!
I get all the good weed but if I bring my own vape pen into Amsterdam I could be arrested and/or not let in? That’s just crazy to me. Tell me it’s not true or customs really wouldn’t care about 1 vape pen?

A weed vape pen? I know of plenty people who have brought stuff with them but why risk it? You've got a massive choice once you get into town.

Carrying cannabis consumption devices like vaporizers or bongs is generally not a problem in most countries, including the Netherlands. As long as your gear is clean and doesn't contain any residue or product, it's usually considered legal – even in stricter jurisdictions. In the Netherlands, cannabis is decriminalized for personal use. Possession of up to 5 grams is tolerated, and coffeeshops can legally sell to adults over 18. Bringing your own (clean) vape pen into the country? Totally fine.
Just don’t confuse Dutch tolerance with global policy. While Amsterdam customs are so relaxed you often don’t even see a customs officer when you arrive, U.S. authorities take a rather different approach. So on your way home, don’t forget: the TSA and especially the ever-friendly folks at U.S. Customs and Border Protection don’t exactly share the Dutch spirit of tolerance. Let’s just say CBP isn’t exactly known for handing out stroopwafels at the gate.
So: enjoy your visit – but make sure your suitcase is squeaky clean on the way back.

Well because I want to smoke my brand. Also I don’t want to reek of weed when I go to Van Gogh and Anne Frank house.

I use Airopro if you’re familiar with that? No button to press, so squeaky clean and no residue whatsoever. So I can just say it’s CBD? What’s HHS maybe I’ve seen? Not trying to break laws or rules but is it even that bad? Like when we would download music off of Limewire lol? I would never think of bringing anything back to America even though it’s legal for recreational where I’m at. Just worried about having my brand over there. Sounds like you say it’s ok, but that’s what want to hear. Thanks for your response!

Of course I can’t give you an official blessing – I don’t work for Dutch customs
– but honestly, I’m struggling to imagine anyone caring about you bringing a clean, empty little vape pen like an Airopro.
Your biggest challenge on arrival will probably be spotting a customs officer at all. They’re famously elusive in Amsterdam. I’ve flown in from the U.S. several times and never even seen one. Same thing in Brussels – you step off the plane, blink once, and suddenly you’re in the arrivals hall wondering if you missed customs altogether.
So sure, anything can happen – but seriously, it’s hard to come up with a reason why anyone would care about a small, unused device like that. You’re good

Fwiw I've flown from the UK with a pax and a Mighty, never had a problem. Not even on the UK side. All pre cleaned with iso of course.

Suppose it would be best to clarify if this vape pen is empty or not? I assumed you meant a vape pen with a liquid cartridge containing thc.

I have travelled back and forth with grinders, vaporiser and a concentrate pen many times, I put the pen in the liquid bag, to be honest not sure that customs are really interested in such small amounts, but obviously it is personal choice whether to take and it depends on where your flying into ..... I did get stopped flying out and they had a lot through my bag , saw my pipe and grinder , didn't even look in the grinder, I think we both realised there were some remnants in there, but not worth the paperwork

Haha thanks man. Was a bit worried and a little anxious. Spending close to $3000 on flight and hotel alone so would hate for something bad to happen.

Honestly, your biggest problem probably won’t be losing those $3k for flight and hotel – it’ll be figuring out how to burn through $1k worth of top-shelf flower and rosin before heading home.
If this were an intra-European flight, maybe you’d have that little devil on your shoulder whispering “just one last jar in the carry-on…” – but flying back to the U.S.? Nope. You don’t want even a single milligram of anything in your bag when facing those charming folks at CBP.
So yeah, forget the empty pen. The real challenge is going to be finishing your stash in time. That final night might get… mellow.

Lmao at your sarcasm. They think they’re tough but I’m not worried as I don’t need to bring anything back. Sounds great I’m really excited. Love taking my Airopro everywhere, but whatever’s left from that and whatever gear I have from Mokum I will leave for some local ACDer or something. Thanks Kimble!Kimble wrote: Sun 29th Jun 2025 06:33 am ” – but flying back to the U.S.? Nope. You don’t want even a single milligram of anything in your bag when facing those charming folks at CBP.
