Avoid Amsterdam on NYE. Unless you enjoy watching grown adults behaving like 12 year old boys on firework night.

Other than that, enjoy :D

Been there. Done that. Had the fireworks exploding a few feet above my head.

Plans are for a relatively quiet New Year. May try a smaller town or village like Heiloo to bring the bells in. Need to research.

And thanks we always enjoy a trip to The Netherlands.

The wife and I did NYs in Amsterdam a few years ago. :D We loved every minute of it.  We were lucky enough to know Dave, from the t'Nes and he invited us to party with them on New Year's Eve. :D We got to bounce out every now and then to enjoy the insanity that was happening in the square and it was very cool. But we were warned ahead of time from Dave, if you didn't pay attention, people will shoot projectiles at you. :wtf:  We got lucky, but some folks, not so much!! :( It was a fantastic New Years...plus it was our anniversary on the 30th. :D

Yeah it was that. I love the lassaiz-faire attitude of Amsterdammers but the behaviour on NYE is just reckless. Hurting other people is never fun. Maybe I'm just getting even grumpier with age but it was a side of Amsterdam I didn't enjoy seeing.

Thanks mate. I do remember it being crazy. This year has the potential to be even more so. I think fireworks are to be banned from sometime next year so they'll make the most of it this new year.

I think ive made the right choice being out of the cities.

Good afternoon :D

It's 30 days till me and the Mrs are back in Holland. Will be heading to pick up the car this time in 30 days.

I've spied a Beatles museum in Alkmaar and an ice sculpture exhibit in what seems like the middle of nowhere that we'll hopefully be going to as well as the yearly lights festival in Amsterdam.

Very excited to get back and spending some quality time with the wife.

CAn't wait to see the fireworks in the square, everytime I watch the webcam feed it looks like a warzone.

Could maybe meet up for a quick smoke at some point. Do you have any early morning plans?

Gives me the excuse to go in Amsterdam :D
