So I am flying from Australia to the Netherlands to visit relatives in Arnhem for several weeks in May next year. It will be my first visit there, and I am so excited.
Mostly, I am interested in good family time and lots of walking and hiking along the Rhine and the nearby national parks. Separately and privately, I am looking forward to visiting pubs for the local brews and the famous coffee shops, for obvious reasons, without breaching the standards of a responsible uncle.
I may take one or two day trips to Amsterdam, one day trip to Belgium (Antwerp or Brussels), and several long-distance walks to the German towns of Kleve or Emmerich on the Rhine, where I hear beer is cheaper and of better quality.
So please throw all your suggestions at me for Arnhem and the places mentioned above: which coffee shops and strains (excluding those that will turn me into a zombie), which pubs and brews, and which walking and hiking routes.
I am especially interested in outdoor areas, preferably along the Rhine, for walking, drinking, and relaxing. Who knows, I might even glimpse a Rhine maiden if I do all three at once.
The trip is still months away, but I would love to hear and assess suggestions now. Thank you in advance.

Never been to Arnhem either, but you should find reviews of some of the coffeeshops in the Coffeeshop review section or might be quicker to access the review vía the Coffeeshop pages, link for Arnhem below.

Its always great to visit coffeeshops outside of Amsterdam as they tend to have a way more local vibe and Amsterdam in some sense is not the real world
