If there is interest why don't we just hop on an existing irc network like Undernet or *shudder* EFNet (sorry I was an IRCop on EFNet at one time in my life and boy that was lame haha) We can just create our own channel called #ACD or something. We can password protect it if you want, but I don't think it's really necessary as it should be open to everyone. Mozilla users can use the chatzilla plugin to login to any irc network. If irc isn't the solution then perhaps Y! chat or some other free service.

FYI, VDF is actually a private* forum, new members are always more than welcome to join but, the chat facility is not visible/usable by those that have not registered.
A welcome message is viewable here: www.virtualdam.co.uk
*Private = only certain categories are viewable to non members/guests.
Lemming, you could very easily use a free chatbox/shoutbox html code in a forum description within the admin panel. Alternatively, as has been said, there are many options that anybody here could set up...?
Peace
