I think it would be nice for ACD to have their own chat room. I know I would go there and chat with folks when I had some spare time. I dont know what the costs and bandwidth would be but it might be something to consider. Peace.

A good irc server requires a hosted server that allows the running of an IRC server. You then need people knowledgeable in IRC and preferably also IRC services. Then you need a constant and competent staff online to keep control of the server because otherwise every script kiddie online is going to come to mess with you. I admin on an IRC server and its a pain in the ass, but a nice way to chat. I can help out if you do decide to set one up. We run UnrealIRCd and ircservices.

The website and this forum take too much of my time already so a chat room is unlikely I'm afraid. They do have a chat facility over at
My Blue Heaven where several members of this forum hang out though.

why set up an own irc-network? i dont see the point in this. we can just use any ordinary network and open a channel with password protection. of course the password would be published here on the site.

.ITS PUBLIC WHEN YOU ARE A MEMBER
If it's usable as a member than I guess it wouldn't be public then..
only certain members can see and use it.
And on this matter I stand corrected I guess I miss understood the way things worked..

If you're firefox users there's an extension called Daisy.
It opens a chat box next to the webpage you're on, all people connected to that webpage using Daisy can chat with each other.
