What Will It Take To Decriminalise MJ In The U.S.?
What Will It Take To Decriminalise MJ In The U.S.?
This is an open question to all on this board regardless of what country you are in. Right now some states in America have already decriminalised cannibis smoking but the majority of the states still treat smokers like criminals. Despite the fact that for the last 13 years the American President both Clinton and the hypocrite Bush were smokers there still exsist this insanity about smoking.
What do we have to do here in the U.S. to bring peace and sanity towards us who enjoy a puff every now and then?

Nuke the bible-belt. It's the same people who think Creationism should be taught in school (even if they call it Intelligent Design) that keep the herb illegal. Well, them and DuPont. It will be a very very long time before herb is legal in America again.

I am afraid I agree with sonicblue. Those of us in the U.S. will have to travel to enjoy the freedom of smoking without the fear of the law. My first 15 or twenty minutes in Dampkring had me nervous about the police breaking the door down and hauling us all away. Of course that fear didn't last and i enjoyed the rest of my stay in AMS - however reality came crashing back once I returned to this side of the pond. The current political climate makes it impossible for ANY rational policy on anything. When it come to legalization / decrim the Democrats are not much better. Free the WEED Free the PEOPLE.
6 months & 3 weeks til I return to AMS

yah soultrane I know what you mean about that 1st time in Amsterdam experience. It took awhile to accept the fact that the cops where not going to shake me down any minute now. After that the sense of liberation and freedom sunk in and that got me higher than the buds I was smoking.
Then when I looked around everyone else was going about their business. I was not bothering them or disrupting their life and they were not harassing me. Wow what a concept.
stygian23 - no need to nuke the bible belt. You see those religious right folks laughed at global warming and now that the polar ice caps are melting and the oceans are getting warmer increased hurricane activity is the result. So these bogus bible thumpers are going to get squashed by an act of god. (I.E. New Orleans, Biloxi, etc) The worst storms are yet to come.
I think I'm going to get involved in the medical marijuana issue here in California. I think it's time I become an activist.

Yeah once the paranoia fell away, all I could do was smile.
At a legalization rally i attended in Madison WI some years ago the message to the attendees was "Don't Just go home today and GET HIGH! Get involved!" i would encorage all who can to get involved - it can be scary to have your ass out there - but try to do what you can.

Yes true, I think that one of the greatest pros of USA are people, very friendly and helpful and on the other side one of the biggest cons is the brutal regime with only one mission: $$$Stygian23 wrote:Like everywhere else in the world, America has its pros and cons. But its biggest drawback as far as I am concerned are its draconic laws against Cannabis.
Because to set free the cannabis = kill the oil industry = less billions on bank accounts of some people = no way!
That's the problem...
Keep this in mind, specially on election days.
The real problem in America with Cannabis is that Cannabis can be used to make so many products currently made using chemical processes (processes less than healthy for the environment at times). DuPont has the largest lobby in Washington to keep Cannabis illegal, as cannabis products could be made cheaper and more efficiently, thus putting DuPont out of business. It is really quite sad. There are many reasons I love America, but I need to get the hell out of this country. I need to marry a Nederlander and move to utopia.

Add me to the list. Hook me up with a sweet kind Neder girl.
Is it just my imagination or are Dutch girls not as stuck up as American girls in general?
BTW- IT'S OFFICAL GEORGE BUSH IS CRAZY.
"The U.S. President George W. Bush told two senior Palestinian officials that God gave him a personal message to invade Iraq and Afghanistan, according to a new BBC documentary."
Normal people talk to God all the time. You are crazy when you think God talks back to you telling you to go around killing people.

the government and business is certainly never going to legalize it on their own they are making way to much money from it being outlawed and after so many years of lies brainwashing the country all of that has to be undone so the only thing that really can be done is to gather the facts and spread the truth as much and as far as possible and when enough people know the truth maybe a day will come that people will finally demand their rights.
Also most Americans have been so lied to about it's medical uses that many are under the false impression that the pharmaceutical companies have plenty of legal drugs that do as good or better of a job to stop peoples suffering than cannabis does and that there is no need for it medically and the public needs to be educated in the facts about the many horrible side effects (a few being....severe depression, sexual dysfunction, aggressive mood swings........) many of these legal drugs can cause and cannabis can and does the job for a great many conditions without causing these harmful side effects to ones life.
I once read what a leading doctor in Britain said concerning cannabis that government should allow doctors to do whatever was in the best interest of their patients.....(sounds like good common sense to me).
So maybe just maybe if all the people really knew the facts how much suffering could actually be ended and it was finally legalized for medical use for the whole country and everyone could then see the benefit of this wonderful plant and that it is not even remotely the evil weed so many have been lied into believing then we would finally only be one step away from legalizing it for everybody.
