I posted this on another forum but wondered if any of you guys could use your expertise to help me out:
Last year when I was wandering aimlessly in Amsterdam (as you do!) I stumbled across a small coffeeshop in fredriksplein and bought some ganja (as you do (again!))
This stuff was a lightish green and crumbled so easily into the joint with minimal effort. The smoke itself was so smooth and clean - it was awesome. Whilst not a super-strong high by any means, it was a joy to smoke. I think it was more of a relaxing indica feeling.
Last time in Amsterdam, I tried in vain to find this stuff again. I eventually found the coffeeshop but the geezer said he couldn't remember, maybe it was shiva but he no longer sold it. Hoping it was, I bought some Shiva from a different coffeeshop but it was not even near.
I know its a longshot but can any of you experts out there identify this ganja from my description. I'm back off to the dam next month (October 16) and would just love to get some more of that stuff.
Light crumbly and smooth
every sample of shiva you try will be slightly different.. depending on the grower, and also how its cured etc...
sooooo it may have been shiva, just a really nice example of shiva..
from your description, it leaves it very open ended as there are 100's of strains and many that are similar...
sounds to me like you just need to find some properly flushed herb that has been cured well... and im sure it will satisfy you the same way.
and.. i must say shiva skunk is a great strain to try out ... just search for the best grown/cured sample!!!
cheers

I once had a White Widow from the "Relax" shop in Sittard, near the German border, which matches your description at 100%. it was smooth, a nice high and just great to smoke.
What you describe, could be any ordinary sort, which doesnt have special tastes like Diesel/Orange Haze etc., the "old-school" sorts, but very well cured and grown. what you describe is a typical good grown weed

in most of the shops you can ask to see the strains. then you have a look at it, if there are many cristals on it, its already a good one. you can smell it, if it smells like....well, not like marihuana, its not good. it has to be big buds, not crunched stuff or something.....matty wrote:Thanks for the responses and advice guys. Forgive my ignorance, but how do you tell before buying if a weed is well cured and grown? - look? smell?
unfortunately matty... its pretty hard to tell if a weed is properly flushed and cured without smoking it...
some of the nicest and best smelling herbs i have smelled have burnt like shit in a joint and almost tingle your lips and tongue...
as shady has mentioned... if it smells very nice its normally a good sign, also if you can tell the buds have been handled with care, then the grower has usually taken his time and done it right.
butttt... at the same time.. you cant really tell how the weed was flushed until you smoke it... some good signs of a properly flushed joint can be..
1. burns very smooth
2. stays lit even when u dont puff on it for a bit
3. ash turns white, not dark or black
4. lips or tongue dont tingle or even numb.
5. joint just burns nice and tastes nice overall
but yeah , even the best can be fooled by herb that looks great but burns like shit...
best of luck finding that gem
