Airport Metal Detectors

Metal Detector tech hasn't changed in the last few years has it? In other words, airport metal detectors (the ones you pass through not the x-ray machines) still only detect metal correct? It wouldn't pick up say a few grams of hash, would it?

I travel to and from wearing the same clothes (apart from underwear of course) that way I know for a fact that I wont be setting the alarm off therefore if I was carrying a few grams of hash or weed I know I'm safe

The metal detector is not an issue. In a few months though some American airports will be installing "sniffers". A sniffer is a machine what you would walk through and sample the molecules on you by sucking them off you. The sniffer is supposed to be for detecting explosives but I can imagine that they could be used to sniff other things. FYI
