Forum has been migrated to new Server

Post by Lemming »

Hi Lem,
I have finally had found some time to move the forum to the new 64Bit AMD platform, Its running 64Bit FreeBSD Unix and is fitted with a 3ware Raid HDD sub system, this may well speed up access and hopefully with less problems. I hope you will consider upgrading to vbulletin. I can set up servers but my knowledge of running BBS's is somewhat limited. I'll help when & where I can.

Regards

Pete ( Slimline )

PS. Sorry for logging on as you, only way I could post, forgot me password DOH !!

Forum Software

Post by brian-uk »

Welcome offer mazdog, have you any personal experience of Forum software?.

vBulletin was recommended to me and it has impressed me.

This site eaforums is running vB 3.5 and is a good example of customising a forum.

Another good blog rss example is SkypeJournal

Some people don't have a web site or the necessary skills whereas
a blog is a tad easier to start with.

Maybe the members wouldn't want to have their own web page,
blog or RSS feeds, no forget it, best leave alone..
Life is so uninteresting, when will it cease.

Forum moves again.

Post by slimline »

Hi all,
After 5 weeks with my ADSL line down i eventually moved the forum onto one of my mainstream servers. Access may be a bit slow at the moment (the upstream provider has a datastream problem) all the servers are suffering.

After Moving the Forum some of you suffered with not be able to upload Avatars, this has now been sorted.

Regards

Pete
