I'll have a look in May, the menu looks good!
was this place across the street from lost in amsterdam, theres a place we went to last time i was over.theyt had cow hide covering the seats, i quite liked it!Neldo wrote:On Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal there is an Argentinian steak house quite close to Centraal Station, I had one of the best T-Bones I've ever had in there. I'm also an unstoppable carnivore, it was top gear if a little pricey but you get what you pay for... dunno the name but it was before The Grasshopper and after Centraal on the left side of the street as you walk down (same side as Grasshopper) - I think there's 2 steak places quite close together on that road and I can't for the life of me remember which one it is without seeing it but the big dude outside who was like a massive Morgan Freeman had me sold with his patter so we went in to check it out. Glad we did, one of the best steaks ever!!
hope no one comes back with horror story!
I want to check Wilma & Alberts in Haarlem.Boner wrote:Gauchos is very touristy and average imo.
Cafe De Klos @ Kerkstraat 4 do an amazing fillet, another top place La Brasa http://www.labrasa.nl/ @ Haarlemmerdijk 16 is probably the best (I've found) in Amsterdam or head over to Wilma & Alberts http://www.wilma-alberts.nl/ in Haarlem.
Thing is i never was in Haarlem before.
Can you give me some detailed info how to get to Wilma & Alberts?
i posted this on a different thread and maybe its too late but the restaurant in the Hotel Die Port Van Cleve is world renowned for its numbered steaks, im not sure of the details but here is a link to their menu page. http://www.dieportvancleve.com/dishes.htm i havent eaten steak there myself but the other food was great!
Edit: address Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 176
I checked the site their numbered steak comes in 6.5 oz / 180 g or 9 oz / 250 g for 22 or 27.50 respectively, served with a choice of sauce, fries, stir fry veggies etc, enjoy!

I was in one like that on the same street as Rookies, very good it was.
Went to Wilma & Alberts in Haarlem for lunch on Sep 6th to celebrate my friend's birthday, and the only downside was the fact that they didn't have the full menu running for lunch - this wasn't a problem though as the basic "steak and chips" for €16.95 (I think) was exquisite!
All three of us had the same meal and it was probably the finest steak I've had outside of America!
Honestly, if you'd left your knife resting on the top of the meat for a few moments, it would have probably parted in two, it was so tender!
Well worth the 15-20 min on the train from A'Dam!
Next time it will be an evening trip and a T-bone!
Delicious - best I've had in Europe!
