Oh dear!!
Listen if the Netherlands ban so called drug tourism its their problem. I love Amsterdam and the people but if they stop tourists visiting coffeeshops what are the tourisists gonna visit 4, the museaums lol. The coffeeshops r what makes Amsterdam so special, nothing else. If they ban coffeeshops I certainly won`t visit anymore I`ll go somewhere nice and hot like Greece or Spain. And I`m sure the majority of people can buy quality weed in UK, USA or Canada anyway, I know I can. In my opinion if they ban coffeeshops the Netherlands will go from the best country in Europe 2 the worst. I really hope the above story is a load of shit and if it does happen all I`ll have is some fond memories of some great times

The sun says "it boosted pot-smoking among teenagers who wrongly think it has been decriminalised"
Why don't they open licensed outlet who could control who they sell too.....Sell to underage loose your license......
Furthermore it could help our soaring council tax....

The new anti-smoking measures in public places seem to be a lot more widespread these days and I think it is only a matter of time before the Netherlands joins in.
By this time next year. the whole of the United Kingdom will be non smoking in public places and I know it has happened already in Ireland and in the USA and Canada and South America too.
There aren't too many coffeeshops with outdoor seating and it doesn't look good on yourself (or the establishment) to be standing outside the door puffing away. The smoking ban has started in Scotland and there are very few pubs that I will go to now. If the same ban starts in Amsterdam, then I can honestly see the tourist numbers dropping.

no quite. Some select cities, counties, even a few states have laws but smoking in public places is still rampant. Oh and i think no smoking in all "federal" buildings and structures.in the USA
If a smoking ban ever happens in the netherlands i am quite positive the coffeeshops will find a way around it! the country as a whole CAN NOT afford to lose the "drug" tourism.
