Travellers are about to suffer another price hike in US air travel.
In dealing with high jet fuel prices, Delta Air Lines, the nation's third-largest carrier, has announced a rise in domestic fares to, in most cases, US$10 to US$40 per roundtrip.
The latest hike will be in the form of a fuel surcharge and will cover the bulk of Atlanta-based Delta's route system.
Northwest Airlines is also said to be about to follow the Delta initiative and hike its own fares.
American Airlines have not yet commented on the possibility of following the Delta lead.
Airlines have been hiking fares in recent months to deal with soaring fuel prices, spurred by oil, which currently stands at nearly US$120 a barrel.

We had a recent hiccup in that my wife's grandmother is very ill and my wife wanted to visit her. So she bought a ticket to visit her grandmother a few days before our upcoming trip. We thought she could meet up with me in Chicago. Lo and behold United says if you miss any leg of your trip you will have to pay a change fee and the difference in fares. Our $900 ticket is now up to $3000. What a scam, we finally got something worked out after making 5 phone calls and staying up very late. If there is a rise in fuel costs, it's like they use that as an excuse to really bump up fares. Fuckers
Just had to vent.
