THE BEST coffeeshop

My friend and I stumbled across this place on our first day which also happened to be our first time in the Dam back in November 2006. Staff were extremely friendly, the green was boom and it was 12 E for about 2g, you can't go wrong there. I remember the Orange Bud from my 1st visit man it was real tasty and too potent! I started talking to the bud maid Onja in the day and the owner's nephew Jopie in the evenings. They both were great and gave me loads of info on dam. I then went back in Jan 07 and end of Feb only for 2 days and my 1st place of call was 99. I didn't think they would remember me as they see so many different tourists everyday but they did! It was all about the White Widow and Crystal for me. My last trip in Jan 08 has to be the best so far. We would start and 99 in the morning for breakfast and end up there in the evening until they close. I toked a full bag of Jack Herer every night there, which has to be one of their best strains. I become really good friends with all of them and the "boss" kept giving me free Maroc hash every night and free drinks! He is too kind. Onja and Jopie really looked after me and my friend Paul (it was his 1st time) I can't thank them enough. I had to buy them all a gift before I left to show my appreciation; they even gave me free t-shirts! I kept in touch with them since I got back home, and can't wait to get back there! This is the best place to be in the Dam. Thanks so much Route 99! P.S I been sending them salt and vinegar crisps - can't believe they don't sell them in Amsterdam!! I will be sitting there with a FAT one on 22nd May 08!

Weemanio i would think like you if i walked passed it but its not that type of place. Many locals come into the shop and thats a good sign. Their weed is always good and decent weights. Staff are really freindly. I am kinda biased seeing as all of them are my friends but I haven't found one other coffeeshop with the same type of atmosphere and kindness.

I thought i should save this place from 2nd page obscurity, it doesn't deserve that! It is a decent place- can understand why some people may walk past it thinking it to be a touristy rip off place but it really isn't!
The staff are very friendly, the weed is reasonably priced and of a good quality (nice white widow and caramello hash is best i've tried). it has a good atmosphere and locals hang out here which is always a good sign.
The decor is very cool- much better than some of the generic, modern looks of other places. It has a great painting at the back of cultural icons which looks cool in the dim light- great interior much better than some of the slick un-original refurbs of certain other places.
Also you can smoke tobacco here! It has just been done up so that the bar is downstairs and upstairs is just the smoking area. This is probably the best place I have seen by far anywhere for tobacco smokers - a whole big room for us!
Also has internet and pool so you can't go wrong really.

I'll try it out. I've wondered past it many times, always kept on walking.

Oh, I have just been here and the pool tables have gone and internet is out of order, temporarily I think.
I will say that I usually buy weed from dampkring but this place is a good place to smoke freely- they don't mind you smoking your own and the smoking area is large.

this was the first coffee shop i went to in the dam, loved the place, quality gear at good prices, staff pretty friendly, good atmosphere. quiet during the day, busy at night. went there every day (sometimes twice a day!) on our last trip, many a bag of crystal smoked and many a mango luza drunk (best drink in the dam, as far as i'm concerned! don't seem to get them round here)

When my GF and I were in Europe, we flew in to Amsterdam. We spent a week there and I never went to this place. At the end of our trip we had a few days in Amsterdam and I decided to try this place because it was close to the train station.
I figured because it was so close to the train station it would be somewhat touristy. It really wasn't though, the shop may have been, but the atmosphere was definitely a lot of locals.
My only regret is I didn't stop by here sooner.
The bud was OK, but I also didn't buy the best stuff they had as I was getting short on Euros.
I will CERTAINLY be back there this Spring. That car/couch is calling my name

Munch Bunch Summary
This Coffeeshop has a lower level and an upper level. As you walk to the entrance you are faced with that decision. Do we go up or down? Well, thanks to trial and error we went down the stairs where we saw the bar here there was a lady who was friendly enough to give us the good costing drugs and drinks. Then we stumbled up the stairs to what was a giant hot box thanks to the closing window door it maintained a look of openness but all enclosed containing most of the smoke form the customers. The downside to this as we were to fond out was that this closing door resulted in an incredible hot room as well. It did look to be containing one working fan although quite small. In addition they had a massive fan in the back which looked packaged up, so quite possibly good for future customers. We sat down in what looked to be the seats and back end from an actual Cadillac, comfortable and fun to sit on. The décor was very much Americas 60’s, 70’s theme with pictures of Elvis in a flying Cadillac on the wall (maybe that is why he went, owning a flying Cadillac must be quite sweet and would take up most of my time). The other wall contained drawings of space and planets on the wall. Some of them were painted with UV paint and with various black lights around this this made it have a really good effect.
The toilet on the lower floor although separated by gender only were one per sex. Myself and the boys had prior to walking into this fine establishment gone and eaten a lot of food the night before. This resulted in all of us needing to use the one toilet it goes without saying what this must have smelt like for myself when I was last to go in due to the very small area and closure of the doors, our flavours marinaded together well, one of the worst smells I have ever smelt, I feel sorry for the guy who went in after mer when I left.
Good music and a t.v helped with the viewing of various music videos, with good pricing and a nice layout it had a good feel to it when you are relaxing round the tables. The people were nice around us as well as it was a very relaxed atmosphere with people asking to borrow our grinder, making it feel quite homely. The three main things letting this place down apart from the small gas chamber of a toilet were lack of entertainment, any sort of food to eat and the viewpoint due to being on a high level blocked by roofing. Other than this a quite typical Coffeeshop with some interesting features.
