May be so, but i thought the question was ' when did we change' ( or something like that.) Not lets have a crack at people stating their views, although thats not techniquely a question i guess.

Only if you let them do it to you.
Hundreds of examples of people resisting it Martin Luther King and Micheal Collins to name but 2!
Sorry you feel like that dude, lifes just not one depressing event which is controlled by other people not me to me.
But again dude i was answering the question that said 'When did it all change.' ( or something like that.) As i said before. Not is this a police state or not.

Maybe you're right. Thatcher was obviously evil so we expected her to do bad things. Blair seemed like mr nice guy so we expected him to make things better. We trusted him and let him get away with murder, literally, as he led us into more wars than any of his predecessors. We were conned.
Brown has all of the charisma of a slug and tries to compensate with populist policies. He may not be quite so easy with the "War on Terror" but is enthusiastically joining the "War on Drugs". What's next, re-introduction of hanging?

I didn't know about public view = arrest in New York. That's pretty cheesy.
Last run in I had with the cops here in California was about a year ago. They came to my house to remark about the smell. We talked for a bit where I apologized and promised to be more discreet in the future. I kept my promise and that was it.
