I dont think I was there before 7, its excellent having someone who works in a coffeeshop on the forums at least you can tell us whats hot!!

Any news on whats happening with the new marijuana/drinking laws that are kicking in? I heard a rumour that you were looking at opening another shop to combat it?

I think they're just enforcing an old law. All the coffeeshops that also sell alcohol are running out of time on their excisting Licenses. Once it runs out, they'll have to split the alcohol and weed businesses apart. So, like the Greenhouse effect is now, if you want to sell both, it'll have to be in 2 separate properties. Which at best are next door to each other. We'll become 'just' a coffeeshop with our drinks license going off to another premises, with more pool tables.

Will we be able to smoke at the bar?

DC, should be popping into your place during your working week while I'm in Amsterdam (27th March- 3rd April).

The Friday Saturday and Sunday will be towards the end of my trip when I'll have done all of my major sight-seeing and will be sticking closer to the hotel (Rokin).

Will hopefully be needing to refresh my supplies by that time as well.

 Cherry Bomb, Willie Nelson and some stella.....I thought that rang a bell when ya said it. Glad ya liked 'de kamer' Como, last time I was in there on me birthday,an Ice pre rolled near caught me off guard, though I blame the cider.

Boner, yep I'd say the new place will be smoker friendly though the location isn't confirmed yet. Perhaps the Heineken Brewery area. :?:

Azlaker, Doog...look forward to seeing ya both. The offer might even still be open by then too. Day 2, and I've yet to come across a vulcan weed revoluntionary. must have been the snow.

DC, looking forward to being there but I can't do a Spock salute for the life of me. Anyway, don't want to be marked out as a freeloader so I'll pay my way the same as everyone else.

Saw some pics of the place on the site and it does look like more of a bar than a coffeeshop, but having said that it also looks like a good place to hang in the early pm.

Looking forward to some Cherry Bomb washed down with some Gulpener (do you sell pints? and is it served in the traditional Dutch way (lots of froth at the top). I like that. Kind of reassures me that it's a good pint I've got.

Having said that I've been in a couple of seemingly British run places in Amsterdam where there was basically no froth (most likely because I was served an ice cold mixture of piss and fizz.)

Doog, yep we serve pints. The amount of froth ya have is entirely up to you.

...and it's not freeloading, if the shop is busy it'll be one well earned joint!

Hi DC -

Thanks for posting here. I have not yet been to Nes, but I will definitely stop by next time.

It looks like I'll be making the ACD 4:20 hookup, so as soon as I determine if I can get an award airline ticket around that date the countdown will officially be "on".

Personally I think that it's absolutely fantastic to have an employee of one of Amsterdam's better coffeeshops as a member of this forum.

There all the time, knows exactly what's happening all the time, likes to pull in the punters, serves your beer just the way you like it.

Great stuff. Only two weeks away now. Shame the place won't be open when I get there on Monday.

There's always the whole of the following week to get there though.

And I WILL get there.

I love this coffeeshop, the staff are great, the weed is very nice and its nice and chilled there. The one quibble with the establishment is the lack of comfy seats (after an hour your arse is numb  )

This place sounds tits, in the vernacular of my rowdy partner of parties past.

Seeing DC on the forum is too cool. I hope to meet him/you on Ap 7.

I plan on having my first toke on my first trip to the Dam there.

That stella blue and Ice sounds gooood.

Lordy 17 days!

Have to agree with all the above posts, this place sounds bang on. So I'll be making sure at least some of our group call in on the wkend of the 19th - 21st May. We're staying at the Torenzicht, so it'd be rude not to. See you there.

Well now that I've actually been to the Nes I can honestly say that it was my favourite shop of the trip (although Greenhouse Centrum was a very close second)

Nes was everything I imagined it would be, a small local pub kind of place with some great smokes and drinks and a pool table. The toilets are also easy to reach (no awkward staircases just a straight track from anywhere in the shop.

Can't say anything bad about any of the staff. A happy and helpful bunch and on certain nights you can even see Netherlands and Manchester United star striker Ruud Van Nistelrooy behind the bar. (eh DC?)
