On Friday May 9, the luggage handling service on Schiphol Airport will be disrupted because of a strike.
The employees of Menzies Aviation will go on strike for better salaries.
Checking in passengers, handling luggage and moving planes on the airport will be affected, so there can be serious delays.

I'm not sure what you mean. Tip the guy at check in? If I tip the people at my departing airport, how will that help my luggage at my other stops? Not to mention the guys on strike at Schipol airport who are unloading my luggage, they won't be getting that tip money.mindatlarge1389 wrote:iv always checked my luggage iv never been to the dam but i gess if i tip the guy who takes my bags good they get there safe

I've read on the net this will affect 1 in 10 flights. Menzies Aviation is a firm that is hired by airlines to handle passengers and cargo. I read somewhere, but lost the link, that they intend to hand out free toothbrushes to passengers. That's an interesting way to get attention to your cause. I'm flying in on UAL, and they don't use Menzies Aviation, so hopefully I'll get baggage without much trouble. Although I'm sure this still might affect other flights due to back ups. For those flying from the U.S., Menzies is contracted for: Delta, Lufthansa, Continental and Martinair. Good luck. Thanks for the heads up Puffin.
