Wanna be on telly?

Post by Lemming »

I've been contacted by an Amsterdam TV station that wants to follow a group of British tourists around the coffeeshops. I think they're genuine but low budget.
If you're planning a trip in December or January and don't mind somebody with a camera following you about, let me know.

This sounds interesting.
Did they say how they intend to portray these people? Is the story gonna be that the shops are good? or bad? or neutral?

I'd be interested unfortunately I'm an American. :(

As far as how they wish to portray me - I'd take my chances.
My thoughts are free.

Hey. I'm the filmmaker from the local station in Amsterdam. We want to make a neutral film. Just about the Brittish that come here to enjoy smoking. A portrait of young people that come here to relax, smoke and there whereabouts during their stay. If you're interested or have any more questions contact me at bvos@at5.nl.

How about following some old guy around, like me? I'm 50, and you would have a blast filming middle aged folks, smoking away and still being productive people. AzLaker 8)

It sounds very interesting, but my editorial staff is focusing on younger people. So thanks for the offer, maybe some other time.

I'll be in dam in dec, but don't think I want to be followed by a film crew. are you paying to film these people or expect they do it for free?

My friend and I (with others possible) are going at the end of January - 24 year old English guys but as the other post said...not sure if I would want the whole world to see how slewed I can get in a day in Amsterdam - plus you wouldn't be able to film the majority of nights as they are likely to be spent aimlessly wandering the streets of the RLD :)

Of course an offer of free weed could always persuade me to change my mind

Too late I am already famous...I was on RTL4 in 2003.

They started filming in the Greenhouse on Oudezijds Voorburgwal, I think it was when the initial banning foreigners headline was in the news. They filmed us drinking and smoking and we watched it later that day on the telly in our hotel room.

:D :D :D :D

I'm surprised the whole Amsterdam coffeeshop scene hasn't received more coverage on British TV. I remember Channel 4 did a Pot Night years ago which consisted of a couple of documentaries, interviews with celebrity stoners and rounded off with a Cheech And Chong movie (Up In Smoke)

I've seen travel series feautring ibiza, tenerife, mallorca and even newquay which is a town in Cornwall in Southern England which is popular with surfers.

The only series I've ever seen about Amsterdam was Van Der Valk and that was a seventies cop show. Good tune though.

Come on TV companies, give us the lowdown on a REAL hotspot.

Way out...I remember that...I still have it on video somewhere. If I remember rightly the tape runs out at the start of the film :-(

Luckily I have them on DVD now :-D
