26th-30th Trip... First day & second morning...

Post by MonkeyPleb »

Just taking the opportunity to post when slightly lucid. However, on the way to getting to the computer the lucid part went out the window.

So, we're here... After getting in early yesterday morning we checked in and headed straight to Barney's... Mixed reviews or not reputation says 'good gear' and there we went. Myself ordering g/G-13 Haze & my compatriate having g/Laughing Buddha. Well, we decided not to smoke for a few weeks coming up to this and I have to tell you - knocked the shit out of me. I had a really intense high after having half a spliff and had to go and sit outside. Whilst sitting there a guy opposite smoking a cigarette looked over at me. I nodded. He nodded. Then he made a walk over and offered me some honey waffles. Well shit. I took one. He said 'no, no... take two.' I do and heading back in all the drowsey-ness is gone and I'm on a really clear high. Fantastic shit...

Then we move on to Amnesia. It is open. Really nice little place, chilled staff. I want some hash and some opt for the 'canolope'. Nice tasting, sure... But not really distinctive over the last purchase. Should have guessed this really but... But...

Next Abraxas. Love affair with this place due to staying literally next-door on our first trip to 'Dam. Got my first ever purchase in 'Dam again. g/Apple Jack. Sat upstairs and was just tired. Hadn't slept the night before in anticipation and therefore we headed back to the hotel. Stuck on Black Adder and went bye-byes.

Waking up went for traditional walk around the red light. Gaped, and found ourselves at Hill Street Blues. Covered in graf. Fine looking and atmospheric they were cool with us just buying a drink and smoking our own gear as we already had enough.

Back to room. Sleep. Out again for wander. Room. Spliff. Film. Sleep.

Realised this was very long. Summarising.

Anyway, I'll do these as and when I can.

Peace,

The Monkey

I sadly tend to loose the first day like you and prob many do. I think it's partly the excitment the night before (kind of like waiting for xmas morning as kids eh? lol), lack of sleep and possably trying to smoke to much to soon.

But I'm trying to get in the habit of pretty much binning the beer on the first day and opting for strong coffee and plenty of energy drinks. Dont seem to work to well in reality lol. Prehaps doing an early flight and getting your head down after a first smoke for a couple of hours might help.

Anyways great so far, just a shame you were a little buggered on the first day.

Nice report so far....hope there is more to come as there is always something special about reading live reports.

I know what you both say about the first day being a tired one....I had this problem for about the first 5 or 6 trips where I couldn't sleep and found myself struggling early into the arrival at Amsterdam, although the excitement of being there always carried me an extra few hours. Now though I make sure I smoke myself to sleep early the night before...although I still wake up from my sleep worrying that I overslept and miss the flight. Can't win I guess but then when in Amsterdam I wouldn't say I lost at all.

Sound advice Dave, exactly what I do. Get in to Centraal around lunch, check in and dump bags, wander to Siberie, nice smoke and then back to hotel for a couple of hours sleep. By evening feel great

Advice duly noted...

Well, live of sorts... So Tuesday we woke up and smoked in our room. Determined we set out to hire bikes. We did from Orange Bike (whom we strongly recommend) and headed for De Dampkring (or however it's spelt), got lost and helped by American/English girl ''Kate'' who we meet later. Some Rifman Dunya in De Dampkring and I'm quite nicely done. It's a really clear high and made cycling the bike to the park so, so & SO fucking fun. Near pissed myself when partner in travels disturbs dog turd. Anyways, off again and this time to the Van Gogh museum. Pretty incredible and well appreciated. Out and back to Kate - she asked us to drop her a J at work for her troubles. Well we end up going for and drink and are invited to a party and given recommendations. Later too gone to go out.

WEDNESDAY: Wake. Bake. Pablow Picasso and a gram of their Poison. Shit coffee (had bits of filter paper in it) but very good gear. A very definitely stoned effect. Went to Jay's Juices - excellent - and then to get Fawlty Towers. Rest of the day. Faulty towers. All 2 series and the rest of the gear we had lying around. I've just remembered we went to Rastababy's too (all very close though!). Didn't really partake in my friends Orange Bud but smelt nice.

TODAY: Head out and get food. Nice. Betty Boop and decide for a weed pre-rolled. At 3.50EU each we headed outside with another coffee and enjoy a werry giggly high which was perfect for... Madame Tussaud's. The real life models petrified me and I kept thinking room were very full. Laughed my arse off. Head to bushdoctor. Friend does not approve. Go to Tweede Kamer. Friends does approve. Get a gram of the Rifman menu. Forgotten which. Was needless to say good. In fact, it still is! Had several of those and sort of floated out at an opportune moment down the road to softland where I now am about to roll one with their Diesel. Wouldn't sell it in 1/2grm which I though to be a bit arsey. Still...

Anyway. Hope you enjoyed. I'll do more when I'm back...

... Gotta love Jay. The man was fantastic. I've never enjoyed watching juicing so much.

Also I saw him take a break in Picasso's, sitting back with a big spliff. Someone we met informed us of both places and this seemed to be the link.

Anyway, I'll finish the report in the near future.

Right... Been busy until now so will try and remember the last day.

After Softland can't remember anything other than that we went to Moulin Rouge. 4 shows, all respectably arousing... We went into the 'Old Church' and didn't purchase any of their wares other than drinks with which she was cool (and very attractive; we liked her)... We went somewhere else near Hill Street Blues - can't remember the name right now but purchased an ice-o-later pre-roll for 10EU. Went back to our appartment and resolved to finish off as much as possible... The ice-o-later pre-roll killed us but in that very good incapacitated way. Just layed there, munched food and then it was the morning.

FRIDAY (last day): We wake and bake. Visit the Old Church, Free Adam & Abraxas for pre-rolls. Not really noteable but very practicle given our flight later. What was noteable was sitting in Dam square. We people watched for the rest of the day and had oodles of fun. Two things worth recounting; 1) we noticed this last time, Dutch street entertainers are perhaps the worst in the world. So many bad jokes (mistimed), so much suspense and talking, no performing and when they finally do it is laughable at best. And laugh we did. Brilliant. 2) A tramp on the steps literally stood at the top tapping his feet and shaking his hand in beat with something in his head occaisionally screaming for no reason. Then he would stop, move down to the next step, find a good spot and repeat process again. We went away a couple of times and he would always be there. Very giggly.

Anyway - we stayed at Hotel Brian and don't recommend you do. The younger of the two American guys was a complete dick. Always bitching and grumpy and not really the atmosphere you want to have fun in.

Needless to say we were sad to leave. That's about all...

Hope you enjoyed.
