KLM ditches traditional air tickets

KLM ditches traditional air tickets
Friday 30 May 2008

KLM is to replace printed tickets with electronic ones from June 1 on all flights, the airline said on Friday.

Some 99% of passengers already use e-tickets, which are more efficient, safer and environment-friendly, KLM said. If all airlines switched to e-tickets it would save them €2bn a year and 50,000 trees, news agency ANP reported.

Looking at the flight prices for KLM it's obviously €2 Billion savings for the airlines than anything for the consumer.

Nice bit of info all the same!.

What about boarding cards?

They could move to reusable swipe cards............ like hotel room keys.

In thinking, how true. I always do for Easyjet flights, but never seem to get asked for it\them. Just for our backup\reminder I guess. That and proof that we booked and vilidate our flights anyways just in case you get into 1 of those disputed flight booking situations lol. Which thankfully I never have...yet!.

I print an itinerary or two for people here at home in case but I usually go to the airport and just check-in and have never encountered a problem.

First thing i did when i booked my flight was to print out the tickets, and save them as a draft in my email incase i forget them when i go to the airport. If i have just print them off again. No worries.

Im a forgetful guy nowadays.
