What if thread...

Post by SoenderbronX_DK »

Hi guys!

We are leaving for AMS friday, as posted elsewhere, and I was thinking, what to do in case a hostel or hotel reservation goes FUBAR on you? The whole ww sativa thingy got me thinking, not that it is likely to happen, but might be nice to know...

Would you go to the VVV at Central Station and ask them for help, can they help you with a bit specific demand (e.g. not above 50 € p.p.p.n., smoker friendly/no curfew etc) or would you have to settle for the first thing they can find?

Any tips would be very welcome, just in case ya know...

I always confirm my reservations before I leave home. Preferably by phone, but email will do. I guess I'd hit the VVV rather than run around town. They should be able to find something in your price range. Not sure what you'd find under 50 though. Hostel, maybe.

Sure thing, hostel is what we are going for everytime anyway more or less, and do not expect it to be an issue, just in case ya know. Also, The Globe is usually a fair bet for an emergency accomodation...

Hit tripadvisor.com and make a list of 5 or 10 backups and write down their phone numbers. If it's FUBAR, make a few calls.

Is there one of those phones that connects directly to hotels at Centraal or the VVV?

Call a couple days before, you'll be fine. Too much fun to be had not to.
