The Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn is launching an experiment Tuesday whereby customers will be able to pay by placing their fingers on a scanner.
BREUKELEN - The Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn is launching an experiment Tuesday whereby customers will be able to pay by placing their fingers on a scanner.
The experiment is taking place in the supermarket's branch in the town of Breukelen.
Customers who want to take part must first register by providing an identity card, bank pass and fingerprint. Some supermarkets in Germany already use a similar system.

Customers using the Albert Heijin supermarket in Breukelen are taking part in an experiment to pay by fingerprint.
Once they have registered and their finger has been scanned, customers can pay for their shopping without cash or cards. The experiment will run for six months.
Meanwhile, in Tilburg, café owners are considering using fingerprint recognition to keep out troublemakers.
