Day 2 - September 6th

Post by Valo »

On previous trips I had always made a thing of getting up as early as my body would allow and still chose to set my alarm for 7am this time around. At around a minute past 7 I decided on going back to sleep, finally waking up around 11 feeling a hundred times better than I did at 7.

I had a glass of orange juice downstairs in the Greenhouse Effect bar, which was included with my free breakfast and slowly trekked over to De Kuil at 12 for to meet up with zunkii and his friend again. By around 12:45 I was beginning to question my own mind and thought we arranged to meet up at Pink Floyd instead (which was the other option last night) so I began the walk toward PF direction. I had just reached Haarlemmerstraat, past Picasso, when I saw them both coming the other direction saying they had been waiting in Pink Floyd since 12. I knew I had smoked too much the day before :). Not to worry though as we still had a few hours to chill out before their flight and zunkii had also bought some of the new Dirty Jack Herer from PF – a very strong stoney weed.

We walked back to De Kuil as we all like that shop and it was close to the hotel. I bought some more of the Nevilles Haze but could not bring myself to hitting the vapo bags a second day in a row so stuck with my pipe whilst we all played some more pool and started to finish of zunkii's supply before it was time to go. A great advantage of De Kuil is them allowing you to bring your own food so we got some pastries and other edibles and took them with us. It didn’t seem long at all before a couple of hours had gone by and it was time for zunkii and his friend to catch the train back to the airport - so we walked back to their hotel where they collected their bags and we said our goodbyes. It was a pleasure to spend a day and a half in such great company and although I knew I had another couple of days left, I did wish I could have spent another with my newly made friends – I’m sure we will all meet again someday, hopefully in Amsterdam too. Although this was my 5th trip to Amsterdam it was also a nice change to been shown around by someone who has more experience in the city.

I would never had said I felt lonely at any time, but it was weird not having anywhere planned on going to or anyone to meet up with so it didn’t take me long before thinking of the next best thing – yes, a trip around the RLD :) The main district was first and to be honest didn’t really have much to offer as I would have expected so I made my way to the smaller one in the Singel area. For some reason this district never seems to disappoint me and I felt myself decided on a number of women, including a very nice older looking woman with an awesome figure on the road next to Amnesia. But I finally chose a young looking blonde with some nice curves on Korte Korsjespoortsteeg, a very nice young Dutch girl who gave excellent value for money, possibly the best in my few visits to window girls. I had spent some time walking round the two RLD’s so decided on heading towards my hotel to re-energise for the night later. Stopping off at the Chinese take away shop again on the way back I wrapped up my food and took it back to my hotel room along with a few bottles of water from a convenient mini supermarket about 30 seconds walk round the corner from the hotel. I remember eating the food again watching some random programme I could hardly understand and as soon as I was stuffed, I put the food box on the side shelf and dropped to the bed – eventually waking up around 7pm.

I felt pretty fresh as I woke up this time, not having a hash milkshake and several rounds of vapo bags may have helped. I made a routine lap of the RLD seeing many beauties I would have loved to have shared the company for a while but decided to save that for a bit later – so I went and stopped in Sheeba for a while, where I bought some Super Skunk, not quite what I would call super but still got me stoned. They do nice coffee here but the place was pretty quite and although friendly the staff at the front (bar end) were more interested in talking to each other than any of the (few) customers.

Walking up the road a few minutes I went back to The Coin as I find this place a little more relaxing than Sheeba. I bought some Temple Ball which I had previously bought here on another trip, this time was as good as ever and kept me in the shop for a while longer (I physically could not move). Was seemed like forever but was probably closer to an hour had passed and I was up for a stroll around those famous windows once again. A couple of real stunners catch my attention this time although I quickly realise I am far too stoned to go inside a kamer yet so decided on a couple of beers in Excalibur first. The smoke had made me too unsocial for a while so I bought a beer and sat in the frosted window by the front of the shop where I could peer through a normal window to the goings on outside and still have a good view of the wrestling which was on TV at the time :) As soon as the wrestling had finished I was ready to make a move and try another lap or two of the RLD – but as I took my glass back the barman turned the channel over to an episode of Jackass, I loved the show when it first came out so couldn’t resist filling my mug of Heineken back up and having a more relaxing smoke of the (not so) Super Skunk I bought earlier. A few episodes had passed which was must have taken the time to nearly midnight so I forced myself to go and walk around outside.

I still had to walk off a bit of my sluggish attitude the smoking had brought on so I did a few laps of the canals exchanging smiles with one particular blonde beauty just opposite Excalibur several times. Typically as soon as I worked myself up enough to go and visit her the curtain was drawn and I was back to the drawing board so to speak. I saw many of the regular street dealers on my route around too, although I didn’t get bugged half as much as last time – I guess I’m blending in to the crowd and attitude a little too well! I also found out what those elephant statues on top of the entrance to Cassa Rosso are meant for - as I was crossing the bridge next to the club I saw that some over excited tourists were being directed the opposite direction by the doorman of the club and was helped out by the elephants squirting water over everyone. Caused a lot of screaming but more laughter than anything :)

I eventually saw a gorgeous Italian girl on the same side as Cassa Rosso which I quickly went over and negotiated the average price. She wasn’t the friendliest of the girls I have been with by far, even asking for more money before she started. I refused to pay extra and she just got on with it in silence, but actually performed very well considering she seemed a bit grumpy. I left happy that I wasn’t ripped off but would not go back to her in future, despite the stunning looks and body.

I was going to end the day with a nightcap back in the Greenhouse Effect but seeing the bar side was nearly empty (compared to a packed coffeeshop) I walked a bit further up the road back to The Coin. Enjoying a smoke of the temple ball along with a hot chocolate and chat about the day to the barmaid, shortly after it was definitely time for bed. A rather uneventful day for my usual standards in Amsterdam but after an extremely ‘high’ first day it didn’t take long on the second before I felt completely exhausted and fell asleep again to the TV.

Nice one Valo! It's always good to read a travelogue and that was an especially good one.

Might I make a suggestion? Why not embed the pictures into the text using this kind of syntax:

Code: Select all

If you have a program like PaintShop Pro, Photoshop or even MS Paint, you could create some smaller versions in a separate album specifically for the purpose of embedding them here. Shrinking them a bit will make them look sharper (I assume they were taken using a camera phone) and you could still have the links to the big versions too. Like this:

Damrak

Just a thought.

Thanks again for the report.

Great travelogues, as always Valo, my friend. One thing I could never do whilst in A`Dam tho`, & that's set my alarm, esp. at 7 in the morning!

Peace, brah

Thanks Lemming, appreciate the tip too - it would look more attractuve (and less novel like) with pictures embeded. Just posting them up as soon as I can for now though...as they are a little late anyway, plus I don't think I will have access to the interent when I go home for xmas next weekend.

Would love to make an animated or multimedia trip report sometime soon.
