Donations News
I just received an email from Slimline. It seems that 7 people have made donations in the past few weeks, giving a total of £146 GBP plus $50 USD. Thanks very much to all of you.
I guess, if there was a way of doing it, I could charge a small subscription of, say, £1 per member per year. Donations seem so much more civilised, though, allowing each to contribute according to their means.
A few people have been very generous whilst the vast majority have contributed nothing yet. If you enjoy this forum and can afford a few pounds, dollars or whatever then please do click on the Support the Forum link and make a donation. It would be wonderful if we could get a steady trickle of funds going into Slimline's account.
Thanks
Lem

Yes, but a subscription would have so many negative effects, too, primarily in turning away potentially valuable members who might never take the time to investigate the forum if they must pay (especially with so much wonderful free content on the main ACD site already).
I'm sure the forefathers here would prefer conscience-driven donations for that reason and several others (like, for instance, they immediately would become circulation directors, responsible for keeping up with 1,000-or-so subscriptions, and cracking down on those who don't pay, and deciding at what point they start booting for non-payment, and piddling with the repercussions for giving non-payers the boot, and ... ooooooh, what a headache subscriptions would be.)
People who have found themselves enriched by this forum should contribute accordingly. If the forum doesn't do much for you, and you don't visit it much, don't give (you probably aren't reading this anyway). If you're here a lot, and this is your plaything, you should feed the beast now and then.

I think an anonymous donation system would work well, as some of our American friends would have trouble legally paying for this site.Kermit wrote:Yeh bit of a poor idea realycourtjester wrote:Yes, but a subscription would have so many negative effects, too, primarily in turning away potentially valuable members who might never take the time to investigate the forum if they must pay (especially with so much wonderful free content on the main ACD site already).

No Victim? No Crime.

I could be wrong, but I thought you guys had to be far more discreet, as they lock you up for possesion, paraphanalia, financeing etc... I dont know ur legal system though. I could be completely wrong. discussgeoffk wrote:How do you figure?Ash333 wrote:I think an anonymous donation system would work well, as some of our American friends would have trouble legally paying for this site.Kermit wrote: Yeh bit of a poor idea realy

Ah, I see. Yes that is a possibility. I like to think our government has better things to do, but every once in a while I'll hear a scary story about someone getting busted for a small amount of grass or paraphernalia. Most of this depends not only on the state, but on local enforcement. An example would be the local drug task force which is supposed to work along side municipal police. Sometimes they get a little renegade and won't involve the local force if they believe the locals are too soft on drug enforcement. They have busted a local med grower, luckily the case was dropped. This is similar to the DEA's harassment of medical dispensaries.Ash333 wrote:I could be wrong, but I thought you guys had to be far more discreet, as they lock you up for possesion, paraphanalia, financeing etc...
