Hot Bacon, Salami and Brie Baguettes

Post by axeman9 »

I came across a class little sandwich shop while on my recent trip. It had a sign outside on the side of the building advertising bacon and brie baguettes. But the girl working said it was better with salami in though. The shop is on Nieuwezijds Voorbrgwal on the right if you are facing Centraal Station.

Directions - Walk out of Grey Area and turn right. Go over the bridge (with the outdoor seats on). Down a little Street (20-30 yards). Over Spuistraat, straight on, down another little street and on to Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. Cross the road, walk 15-20 yards left or right and you cant miss it.

Although thinking about it, it might have been on Spuistraat, hang on, :? no....... Definately NZ Voorburgwal.

Enjoy the sandwiches :D

Two kinds of meat in one sandwich. I'm on it. Saw your right up on it in your trip report. PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals) Sorry, that was pretty bad. All in good fun.

PETA - Wahahahahahah OMG! Where can I get that printed on a T-shirt?!?!?!

I'm all in favour of the MMS (multi-meat-sandwich)! I went through a whole wedge of brie yesterday as I was so inspired by this classic combi!

I've been off work this week with a twisted ankle, but I managed to drag meself down to the supermarket to feed my habit yesterday!

Now, axeman, I've been trying to figure out these directions so I can enter this place in to the SatNav thing I've got on me phone, but I only have one query left - when you say "Walk out of Grey Area and turn right..." You mean left, right? I mean... oh you know what I mean! In other words, fall out of the door at GA and turn "LEFT" on Oude Leliestraat to cross the big wide bridge as if you're heading towards Seedsdirect (no longer open)...

1st little street (Torensteeg), cross Spuistraat then down 2nd little street (Molsteeg)? onto NZ Voorburgwal, dodging the trams as you go...(Magna Plaza on the right hand side - as if you're walking back to Dam square) Is that about right (I mean correct)??

Sorry for all this, fella, but when I get the taste of Bacon in my mouth - there's nowt much that'll stop me!! Every year I go I get a little better at navigation and locating good eateries, and this one sounds too good to miss! Barneys is getting a wee bit expensive for a fry-up and we're stopping on Raadhuisstraat in September, so that would be nice and convenient (sadly not for my mate, who does not eat pork!!) - I'm sure me and his missus will take care of his share for him, though...

I think you are getting right mixed with left Dave... Out of GA and turn RIGHT. as if heading towards Dam Square. Left will take you the wrong way... 8)

If you go right when you leave the door of Grey Area you go away from Dam Square.

Oh man.... I get easily confused at my advanced age...

Left? Right? Ahh, who cares so long as there's hot meat and cheese at the end of it!

I can do the "heading towards Dam Square" bit - I think I was turned about trying to visualise whether I was looking at GA or coming out the door of GA.

Dam Square. Towards Dam Square..

(Unless of course they moved GA... B@$tards!!)

Too baked now...

Where's that bacon?

I too am pretty sure if you want to head back to Dam Square from Grey Area you have to make a "left" when you fall/stumble out the door. Dave's street names make sense to get back to NV Voorburgwal.

Yes, left out of Grey Area takes you toward Dam Square (and NZV, and Spuistraat, and Ax's aforementioned meaty treat).

Or just walk straight out the door and get some Puccini bon-bons instead.

No worries fella!

I thought it was me who'd gotten all confused and such...

Usually by the time I've hit the GA, my sense of direction is completely shot...
