Dont remind me! I was in shock! Though I did have a niggling feeling something bad might happen- it was one of those cagey wimpy united performances- great free kick though!

This is courtesy of VanDenHauwe over on Guardian CIF:

'Pre-season friendlies are the football equivalent of Quavers. Sound like a good idea just before, but leave you completely unsatisfied at the end of a bag. No, that's a terrible metaphor.'

I'm actually setting the Sky+ for the ambitiously named "Emerites Cup" because I'm off to Northumberland for a wedding and I don't want to miss any preseason. God I just whish the season would start...

I'm a Liverpool fan, grew up watching on telly during the late 70's and early 80's thats when they were the best footy team in the world.
Hopefully 2008 will be a good year for us, Torres and Keane watch out defence's here we come.

Thats Heart of Midlothian F.C if you dont know. Season ticket holder for the last 11 years. Looking forward to the new season, rather than back at last season
Hi Twichaldinho,

I am Hibby but we won't let that interfere with anything that goes on in here ! :D

Certainly not my friend. Besides, my Mum is a hibby, as are a good few of my mates.

It was pretty poor.
We looked rusty and slow.
I'm confident that the return leg will pay dividends.

Succinct, nice work.

I heard Reina saved the day in that one, though I was too busy watching Steve McClaren getting beaten by the Arse, so to speak, which was thoroughly tedious tbh. I'm massively excited about the new season :D but I've lost my confidence in arsenal who look less creative without hleb. Liverpool could do well but the smart money's gotta be on the same top two as last year hasn't it?

oh and whisper it softly and in forboding tone but tottenham might actually do well this year even if/when bbtov goes. D Bent looks like he might have rediscovered his touch (I can't believe I just said that).

Chelsea looked real good today but to be fair Portsmouth looked rubbish, should be an interesting season.
