Amsterdam All in 1 Travel ticket for tram, bus, metro and train
July 22 2008
Starting July 23 there is a convenient ticket for tourists available that combines admission to tram, bus, metro in Amsterdam, AND the train to the airport.
The ticket is a test, and is a cooperation between the GVB (the Amsterdam public transport authority) and NS (the Dutch Railways).
The 'Amsterdam All in 1 Travel Ticket':
- contains a return train ticket between Schiphol Airport and Amsterdam Central Station
- covers all trams, buses, night buses and metro lines in Amsterdam
- is only for sale at the Holland Tourist Information desk on Schiphol Airport (across from Arrival Hall 2, open daily from 7am to 10pm)
- the ticket will be for sale from July 23 to October 31 2008.
You can choose between tickets of:
- 24 hours: € 12,95
- 48 hours: € 17,00
- 72 hours: € 19,70
- 96 hours: € 22,40
The new combined ticket is slightly cheaper than buying the tickets separately, and very convenient for visitors to Amsterdam who arrive at and leave from Schiphol Airport.
If you don't travel by plane, the GVB also has easy to use travel cards for 1 to 4 days, without the Schiphol return ticket (see here for more info).
More information about the 'Amsterdam All in 1 Travel Ticket' is on this website.

Amsterdam All in 1 Travel ticket for tram, bus, metro and tr
Nice one Puffin!!
This sounds just the job! I'm over there again in September with two friends, and with only a couple of moments working out fares etc. this seems to be the cheapest option for getting around...
72 hours: € 19,70 with a return train ticket to Schipol, or 72 hours without the train ticket for € 14,50 - even my basic mathematical skills tell me this is great value for three days zipping around! I think the return train ticket was €7,20 the last time I was there, so you're looking at paying around €12,50 for 3 whole days travel! Just over €4 a day... Bit easier to use than the old strippenkaart as well...
Getting too old for all this walking around!!!
Thanks again for the info!

From what I understood on their website, the return ticket can be stamped after the 24/48/72/96 hour period has expired.
I've not actually done the trams before in Amsterdam, simply because I've always stayed close enough to the action to have walked everywhere, but when the mind is easily in better condition than the body, the attraction of climbing aboard a vehicle that can take me where I need to go with the minimum of fuss certainly has it's good points...
If you've got a pass for 72 hours or whatever, then you're more likely to use it as well... It is quite a walk to the hotel from the Station when you're carrying a bag, and even worse on the return leg, because you're more likely to be much the worse for wear due to finishing off all those little baggies before the flight home...
Trips further out of the main centrum to Mellow Yellow and Noon become less of a mission and more of a pleasure - (sorry for rambling - I'm trying to convince myself as much as anything!)

Sounds pretty cool - not having to worry about carrying enough change for that return trip, for example...Stamp your ticket on the 'second trip' stub in the yellow stamping pillars before you return to Schiphol by train (the time at which you do this does not have to fall within the 24, 48, 72, or 96-hour period)

I think this will answer your question.courtjester wrote:Dig it.
If your stay is longer than 96 hours, do you still get that last trip back to Schiphol, or does it also expire after the fourth day?
"How it works:
* Before boarding the train to Amsterdam, stamp your ticket on the 'first trip' stub in one of the yellow stamping pillars at Schiphol. The stamping pillars are located at the entrances to the platforms.
* From the moment that you stamp your ticket at Schiphol, you will be able to travel for either 24, 48, 72, or 96 hours throughout Amsterdam on any of the GVB's trams, metros, buses or night buses.
* Stamp your ticket on the 'second trip' stub in the yellow stamping pillars before you return to Schiphol by train (the time at which you do this does not have to fall within the 24, 48, 72, or 96-hour period). "
