bike rental in winter

I am planing my first trip to Amsterdam in Feb. of 09. Will I have to worry about snow? Do people use bikes that time of year?

Possibly, as I've seen snow in March.

people in the Netherlands do not feel the cold. I've seen little kids with no hats or gloves riding in really cold weather. They ride all year in all kinds of weather. You won't have any trouble finding or riding a bike.

check out Mike's Bikes. I've rented there before, good service, and the bikes do not advertise you're a tourist.

have fun!

hey i have some good news for you.,

i have been to amsterdam for 11 days in february the last 2 years in a row..

in 2008, we had amazing weather.. i was wearing short sleeve shirts all day long.. people in the parks, on the terraces etc. it was very warm... and guess what. in 11 days only 1 day of rain.

in 2007 we also had decent weather.. at night it was a bit cooler, but overall it was awesome..

i rented bikes on both trips... and there was no sign of snow. although this year i think it snowed at the end of feb or early march.

february is a fun time to be in adam.. its not as busy, the weather i have lucked out on, people seem to be in a good mood as nothing is overly busy... and there seemed to be quite a few events going on while i was there both years..

february is no july.... but its still amsterdam and its still fun... and you can 100% rent a bike... people still ride there bikes in february like any other time of year

We ride bikes year round. For locals, bikes are daily transportation. We don't ride fast or pull wheelies or do tricks. We use them to get from point A to point B. We stay to the right and are always aware of everything around us. When riding thru the centrum we keep one finger on the bell at all times(tourists). We NEVER ring the bell unless it is necessary. I suggest a well marked bike so locals can see you coming. Once you really get it you can upgrade to a local style bike and ride with us. I have seen 90 year old ladies riding thru the snow, so you can do it too. Haaa!!!!
