Anne Frank House

Post by sonicblue »

A visit to the Anne Frank House can be a sobering experience. It was cold out and I waited in line for thirty minutes with a nice buzz of course. No pictures are allowed and a pass was 7.50 euros.

There is really not much inside to see still the place tells a story about a group, oppressed by the right wing, who had to hide what they were for fear of capture and the consequences thereof.

Besides being a part of World War II history, The Anne Frank House feels like a shrine. I had the feeling that other visitors were on a pilgrimage of some sort to pay respect to those lost in the camps.

If you have the time, I can recommend a visit to The Anne Frank House. It will tell you something about who the Dutch people are and why I like this country.

My thoughts are free.

It's on the Prinsengracht not far from Grey Area.
It's marked on the second map on this, rather dated, page of the site:

I'll add this.
I took Tram 17 to Westermarkt.

The Anne Frank Museum has a web site.

In some way, I feel the liberty us smokers enjoy in The Netherlands is related to this young girl.
