Airline tickets in Netherlands up 25 percent
12/08/2008

Prices of airline tickets are 25 percent more expensive than in 2007 due to high fuel cost and new flight tax.

THE NETHERLANDS – Prices of airline tickets are 25 percent more expensive than a year ago. Statistics Netherlands says the increase is due to high fuel prices, which airlines are partly passing on to their customers. A new flight tax introduced on 1 July has also contributed to the increase in price.

KLM is one of several airlines that have repeatedly increased their fuel surcharge. Currently it charges EUR 41 for European flights. On intercontinental flights, the charge is EUR 133 for flights under nine hours and EUR 147 for longer trips.

i'm glad i bought my tickets back in febuary....at least they have to honour the contract at that price.....otherwise i'd have to endure 6 hours of ferry and 4 hours of trains too......flying cuts the whole journey down to 3 hours 20 mins(including getting to and from airports)

Oh poor you, I gotta sit on one plane for 1 1/2 hr., wait around a few hrs.,
sit on another plane for 10 to 10 1/2 hrs., then the train ride to town.
It's worth it though! 8)
