Train ticket prices in Netherlands to change
14/08/2008
The price of rail tickets from summer 2009 will be changed when the public transport chip card is introduced.
THE NETHERLANDS - Dutch railways are to adjust the price of rail tickets from summer 2009, when the public transport chip card is introduced, to run in conjunction with the old system until 2011.
With the new card it will only be possible to pay for single journeys. To keep the cost of two singles roughly in line with that of the present return ticket, the price of a single will be cut by 9 percent by 2011, in three stages.
Meanwhile the price of a return will go up 6 percent, also in three stages.
