Free Ferry
You walk on and then the ferry goes to the other side and then you get off. I've never paid, I asked the ferry man and he told me "today it's free". I think he was being a wise guy and it's always free. You can take your bike, some nice riding over there. It's right behind the station, very easy to find.

From Central Station, there is a western-drop-point ferry called Buikslooterwegveer (because the street it dumps onto is Buikslooterweg) and an eastern-drop-point ferry called Adelaarswegveer (dumps onto Adelaarsweg). The ferries are free.
One well-reviewed coffeeshop, 't Oooievaartje, which is listed in Kip's Top 40, is not far from the Adelaarswegveer drop point. You can get its address from the ACD web site.
