the voters passed a law in the city of Denver to be able to posses up to one ounce but it has made no legal difference at all the city of Denver announced the following day that they will just continue to arrest and prosecute under Colorado State Law which is the same law that they have prosecuted over 90% of their cannabis cases with every year.
Unfortunately nothing has changed and it is business as usual in Denver

yep /\/\/\/\
the only thing this did was send a message that not everyone support the "war on drugs", unfortunately at this point in time that message falls on deaf ears.
if the police are politicians in Denver weren't such pussies they'd realize that the people of Denver are indeed their bosses and that their bosses are saying "we want you to not waste time energy and most importantly tax money "protecting" us from this non-evil"
arrrrghghghghhhh politicians suck

You are so right mazdog it has sent a message and if nothing else hopefully it will encourage others to take up the fight we can win we just need more numbers more votes and with enough even the rich and greedy industrialist families who are the true wagers of this war will have to rethink things.
ALL Politicians are bought and payed for puppets of people so wealthy that spending a million here and a million there is like any of us paying for lunch it's pocket change to them.
I hope I live to see a day that our tax dollars are no longer used to lock up our innocent brother and sister smokers and all that empty prison space can then be used to keep the murders and rapist in there instead of releasing so many violent repeat offenders early because there is not enough room.
Damn strange this country's polices you hear all the time about a violent repeat offender being released and turning around and raping or killing someone again but when was the last time anyone heard about a grower ever being released early.....even a medical grower....instead you hear official statements like "we must make an example" or "we must send a message"
There are some screwed up laws in this country or should I more accurately state that there are some cold hearted, uncaring, ruthless business policies in this country.

that's right, it's our tax dollars that are paying for the various drug war policies and unfortunately for us peaceful weed tokers we live in a system that equates some "drug offenses" with violent crime and other felony types of behaviour -f'ing astonishing IMHO.
But legalizing pot is something that many industries would hate so it's easier to buy the politicians with a few millions, have the politicians spend taxpayer billions and there you have it - our current situation.
It's gonna be tough to break up the drug war industry, it has a lot of players, connections, clout and money.
I posted in some other part in this forum about how I got busted by New Yorks Finest for two nickel bags (that's $10 worth of weed).
Wonder how much that all cost the NY taxpayer - especialy the hours of overtime that one or some of the cops got since he had to process me and be with me.
Maybe if more people knew of the ways this drug war money is spent they would be more pissed about it and tell the politicians to spend it on better things like body armor and better gear for soldiers in Iraq or a better rail system in the US, or bigger dikes in New Orleans (the ones that hold the water back...), or more resources for our schools or discounted Segways for senior citizens - anything other then paying billions of dollars for people to enforce draconian laws that can take a person's house away from them cause they were growing two power plants or throw someone in jail for a few years cause they had an ounce of pot on them or something insane like that...is that too much to ask?
