Moderate Hotels

Post by zunkii »

I am realise that most people are on a tight budget when visiting the Dam, but the one thing essential to me enjoying a the trip is a clean decent room.
I learned my lesson twice. The first time was when I stayed at La Canna Hotel. What a doss house, the room was damp and manky and I you just prayed that your possesions would still be in the room when you got back. The second was when I stayed at a Shit hole on Raadhuis Straat, 5 to a room with shaired shower.
Now I choose a reasonable 3 star hotel, there are quite a few in the centre and share a twin room with a mate, we pay aprox £50 per night each(Mid summer) Friday and saturday. You can save a bit on both flights and hotel by going mid week, but I always include at least a friday or Saturday.
I know there are loads of people who stay at the Kras, I stayed there once, very nice but if I wasn't there on business, I wouldn't have stayed there. I stayed at the Victoria once on a promotion that was very good.

Damn Dave?!! You ever gonna answer my question about how you get that "€30 for a singel" rate?

Hotel Abba kicks ass! However, the going rate is €40 for a single with free breakfast and shared facilities. Not "€30 for a singel".

For me it's got to be 'Hotel Crystal' or particuarly 'Hotel Uptown' (all rooms en suite in Uptown).
Though marginally dearer than above, they are spotless and are all you could ask for.
And like most of the hotels, the stairs are a piss laugh.
