Not sure if this has been answered properly, a little stoned, but FP Uptown is a 20 min walk from dam square, but very close to museumplein and leidseplein, about 5 mins walk.
It is next to Vondelpark, so has some lovely views. The breakfast is good, not the best by any means, but good, overall I had a good time there, but for me it was too far out of town.

20 mins is nothing to me though, i'll walk 3-4 miles rather get a bus & thats here, walking in the dam is a never a chore, plus it must have been good having vondelpark practically in your backyard. I think i'll go with 3-4 nights in uptown & 1-2 in downtown, best of both worlds then.
