New Conservatory Opens

On Sunday 14 September, the new Conservatory of Amsterdam officially opened. The Conservatory is housed in a spectacular new building designed by architect Frits van Dongen. There are four halls where concerts are held regularly: the Bernard Haitink Hall for symphonic music (450 seats), the Sweelinck Hall for recitals (about 120 seats), the Amsterdam Blue Note for jazz and pop concerts (about 200 seats) and the Theatre Hall (about 50 seats).

The conservatory will put on free concerts almost every day. Every Monday at 20:00 a concert in the Amsterdam Blue Note; every Wednesday at 19:30 an open podium in the Sweelinckzaal, every Thursday at 17:00 a jazz concert in Amsterdam Blue Note; and every Friday at 12:30 a lunch concert by classical and jazz students.
