taxi's outside cental station
The taxi will cost you quite a lot of money, have you though about using this service? http://www.schipholhotelshuttle.nl/site/home.asp they leave from the airport and drop you off at the door of your hotel, €22 euro return fee per person, if I'm stopping at a hotel listed I always use them.
If this is your hotel: http://www.hotels.nl/amsterdam/jollycarlton/map/ then Trams 16 or 24 should work. I think there might be a couple of others, but I used those quite a bit. Skip the taxi, trams are easy. The walk is pretty easy too. Might not be fun if you've got big luggage though.
thank you so much for the link, now do you just wait outside the airport for it or do you have to book it firstBoner wrote:The taxi will cost you quite a lot of money, have you though about using this service? http://www.schipholhotelshuttle.nl/site/home.asp they leave from the airport and drop you off at the door of your hotel, €22 euro return fee per person, if I'm stopping at a hotel listed I always use them.

You just get it at the airport, as you're walking through Schiphol keep heading left past the counter where you get the train tickets there's a little booth where you go and buy the ticket.paulam wrote:thank you so much for the link, now do you just wait outside the airport for it or do you have to book it firstBoner wrote:The taxi will cost you quite a lot of money, have you though about using this service? http://www.schipholhotelshuttle.nl/site/home.asp they leave from the airport and drop you off at the door of your hotel, €22 euro return fee per person, if I'm stopping at a hotel listed I always use them.
Take the train from Schipol to Amsterdam Centraal. Its really quite hard to mess this bit up, and its been well documented before so I won't go into huge amounts of detail.
From Amsterdam Centraal, its a good idea to know where your hotel is. Yours is, if I've googled correctly just south of Rembrantplein. I'd suggest you have a good look at google maps, and print an ACD Map.
I'd personally stroll down through town, and it'd take between 15-30 minutes depending on my route and speed, but there are trams running to Rembrantplein all day, so if you have heravy bags that might be the better option for you.
Does anyone know which tram runs south from CS to Waterlooplein/Rembrantplein/Thorbeckplein?

I'd take the train to Centraal Station and the No. 4 or No. 9 tram to the Amstelstraat stop, right across from the Flower Market, just before it hits Rembrandtplein. It virtually stops at your hotel door. The No. 16, No. 24 and No. 25 trams drop you just a little bit further down Vijzelstraat. All six of them also drop at Muntplein, just before your hotel.
I got seasick once, but I didn't stop getting on ships because of it. If you're going from the airport, to the train station, to the tram, there's little likelihood of catching a whitey in between. One bad experience 12 years ago -- probably more attributable to something you did, whether it was bad food, or booze, or weed that made you woozy -- isn't a great reason for so severely cramping your ability to move about the city.
I've never had any application for hiring a taxi in Amsterdam.
