Brief Trip Report

Post by Como »

Just back after my 3 day whirl-whind visit to Amsterdam. A full trip report will follow in due course! 8)

Anyway...here is what I managed to smuggle back (or approx 92% of it!)...

From Day 1:

4.8g Bio Skunk - Central Coffeeshop

4g Top Tits, 3g Dirty Jack Herer & 2g Umma Gumma - from Pink Floyd

Day 2:

3.5g Diesel Skunk, 2.5g Sage & 2g Moroccan Ice Hash - all from Katsu

2g Tbisla (sp?) - Cheech and Chong (ended up there 'cause we took the wrong tram!)

2g Ice (weed) - from Blue Velvet

Day 3:

3.3g NY Diesel - Nes Cafe (.2g given free from bud tender!)

2g Mega White Thing & 2g Diamond Top - from De Overkant Hortus

Now its time for a fat spliff of Mega White super charged with some Umma Gumma!!

Looking forward to it was well. I am very keen to know if all the posts regarding a crack down on the coffeeshops (especially with tourists) is true. I have read that some shops don't take kindly to tourists although this seems more to do with who is working the shop at any given day or time.

It is out to the West of the City, a short tram ride. There are actually two Cheech and Chong coffeeshops in the same part of Amsterdam. The produce, although only a limited selection, was cheap and good.

The Bio Skiunk was surprisingly nice. The NY diesel was the best smelling. The trip to Cheech and Chong was worth it too - their Tbisla hash was scrumptous! Top Tits and Dirty JH was also high on my best list as was the Moroccan Ice hash from Katsu. The Mega White Thing was very nice too. Only got about 7g left now, but I visit the Dam again in early March!

Time for a vapor hit of some NY Diesel.....

There are no reviews of either of the Amsterdam Cheech and Chong coffeeshops on the main site.

Next trip I intend to hit many, many of the shops in Oude West. I'll provide a full report/reviews/photos.

Hope to get it done in March or April.

I was just there in November 2005 for the Cup. I was treated EXCEPTIONALLY GREAT!!!! I am an American too. If you act like a civilized human being, you will be treated like a civilized human being over there...Simple as that!!! I loved Amsterdam!! Definitely going back, again and again! Made so many friends that said they cannot wait till I return.I feel the same. Enjoy if you go! Rmember to always say please and thank you...it will get you far. Am I right some of the veteran Dammers?
Peace and 4:20 ! !

:( I was referring really to some of the reviews I had read of some coffee shops where some have complained that the service was less than friendly. I am sure that tourists are most welcome anywhere and I personally have never experienced any problems.

I suppose these places will have regular customers who live in and around Amsterdam and who all can have meaningful conversations in Dutch and who all understand the rules of the various shops such as smoking your own stash, or having to buy shop stock or food or drink.

The owners/employees sometimes perhaps wish that more visitors would make more of an effort to be more like the locals instead of treating the shops like a home from home.

This is my own theory and it is not a criticism of any owner/employee/local or tourist who works in or visits coffee shops.

I agree with spliffmaster. Show some manners, be straight forward, and look them in the eye when speaking. The people we meet were great, I love their attitude. Very refreshing. AzLaker 8)

 Guys Guys Guys. Time to clear this one up as it looks like there may have been a misunderstanding somewhere.

My original question was about the expected government action against tourists entering coffeeshops, and since Como has been to Amsterdam this year, I was hoping to find out if it was true or not.

I fully recognise and respect the fact that good manners are always important, and never more so than when you are in a foreign country where the people are tolerant enough to speak your language.[/quote]

tourist thing is BS.
It will be MAJOR news if/when they ever actually do something like that.
