The closest place to you is Coco's Outback: http://www.cocosoutback.com/ @ Thorbeckeplein 8-12 1017 CS Amsterdam - type this into google maps and you'll see how close it is.

They dont sell weed but you can smoke in there, it isn't the most romantic place in the world but it's all wooden which is quite nice.

Edit: Have a nice time as well.

20+ trips and if I have a genuine interest in something (Amsterdam) then I need to know as much as possible.

They've walled in the little hallway on the left side and made that the smoking area. It works but is not as nice as it was when you could smoke at the table.

Cafe Schuim at Spuistraat 189 used to allow cannabis smoking but I have not been in there since the ban so I am not sure but they were very anti authority so maybe. Also Arkansas Sam and Dreds Diana are opening a cannabis friendly cafe just off the Ceintuurbaan soon. I will supply more details when I have them.

Hardcore. I've only had 5 or 6 trips to dam and a couple to Eindhoven. Still, thats not bad in 18 months. but yeah, research before you go. Same with any city. There is not a hope in hell that I'd just go wondering the West End of London looking for somewhere to eat - just too many tourist traps, its the same with Amsterdam. There is a reason you don't meet locals in some places, and that should be a massive warning sign.

Boner is right,Coco's is not the most romantic but the food is not too bad(burgers, ribs, fish and chips) and the interior is kind of cool being all wood. Also 2x HAPPY HOUR EVERY DAY. Between 17:00 - 18:00 AND 22:00 - 23:00 ALL cocktails 1/2 price and ALL drinks for reduced prices. I was buying two drinks and getting four!! And the staff is very friendly.

So you took that literally?

The pints are in frosted mugs, go on arrival day and take your boarding card for a free one, the food isn't the best but it isn't lousy either.
